Just when some GameCube games turned out not liking my PSX-to-GameCube/Wii adapters, two original GameCube controllers showed up on auction service (and the person selling both appeared to live on my way to the grocery store). Talk about smooth sailing.

Sadly, I had to chop off a couple centimeters from the side of the poster for it to fit in my frame, but it still looks freakin' fantastic, and I adore the shirt.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like the poster or the shirt are available at the moment, they were sold during a special sale for the holidays.

I spot one of those cool Tomytronic mini arcade cabs...how's the gameplay on it, caincan?caincan wrote:as 30 years ago. good memories are back for ever or nearly..
I recall that there were two different mini arcade cabs produced: a car driving one & a cool sci-fi tank shooting themed one (both were powered by four C-type batteries per game unit). Got to try out the tank shooting one when it was put out on display at my local Kay-B-Toys store back in the early 1980s. They originally came with a MSRP $39.95USD back in 1983-1984 for the U.S. toy market. Of course, Tomy was a force to be reckoned with when it came to releasing some cool tabletop VFD (Vacuum Florescent Display) based electronic games in the early 1980s (i.e. - VFD Scramble, VFD Pac-Man, the three different Tomytronic 3D VFD-based handhelds: Sky Attack, Turbo Racing & Planet Zeon, etc.).
The original 1982 versions of the Tomy Pocket Arcade wind-up mechanical handheld games are ace, especially the "Invaders from Space" one (with a Space Invaders theme) & "Space Dock" handheld games. Cool thing was that they never needed batteries to power 'em up. It was done with an elaborate wind-up mechanism to power the actual game + keep score as well.
The 1983 Coleco tabletop VFD game of Zaxxon was awesome but with a rather expensive MSRP of $59.99USD back in the day. I got to try out a demo version of it to see how the gameplay compared to the actual arcade game version. Not a bad VFD game with it's red-colored display using an mirror image display setup (similar to how Nintendo used a mirror display with their VFD-based tabletop electronic games). Quite a desirable VFD shmup game nowdays.
During the Great Video Game Crash of '84, some stores were literally selling brand new boxed Coleco tabletop VFD games for a mere $24.99USD a pop...quite a steal back in those days (considering that they used to sell for a MSRP $49.99+ & up)!

New Ikea bookshelf for my records.

New guitar amp for my guitar that hasn't arrived yet.

New Ikea desk.

I really like my new set up, despite how cramped it is.

I really like that desk. Minimalist style but seems to have a good amount of work space.

Ye olde mobile phone camera belies the absolute pristine condition everything is in. I'd almost given up on finding a good copy for an affordable price.

^^_ Arghhh!! Jealousy!
I've been looking for one of these for ages, the price seems to have really jumped up in the last few months.

Have you guys assembled them? I got as far as painting the bits in assembly step 1... I briefly looked at a YT vid also, and agree that the fit is quite horrible and there is tons of flashing to remove which adds like 300% to the assembly time. I snapped a piece that was too long to fit into its place, so if that sets the tone for the rest of the kit, I expect to use a lot of super glue. I might give up leaving any moving parts at all and just super glue everything - it does look like nice detail so I could forgive having everything locked in place. However I've been getting into other things so I won't continue painting this kit for a while.undamned wrote:Greg ordered him and myself one of those from an online store. There are YT vids about the quality (or lack thereof on a few aspects). Overall it's pretty dang sweet with loads of detail. For the price (like $25 shipped), you won't find a more detailed Slug model.

I've been thinking about picking up one of those myself. I'm not really looking forward to shoddy parts, though
. Is it that obnoxious to put together?

Twisted Metal 2 PC - Sealed. Balls-rare here in the states, but apparently common as all hell in Germany. It even has the Sweet Tooth tattoo...I guess. Either that or there's a sandwich inside. Thanks be to Fudoh!
Mega Man: The Wily Wars - Third time's the charm. 1st was Rockman Mega World...bad manual. 2nd was WW...okay-ish manual. This one is about as good as you can get for a 16 year old game. Once again, praise be to Fudoh!

Nice. Where'd you get that?
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
There was an event I attended last weekend called MAGFest, which is located in the US (Maryland, to be specific) and virt was just walking around the con with his friends. Bumped into the guy and asked him if he had the time to sign something of mine. He asked what it was and when I said 'my Daifukkatsu Black Label arrange album', he was like 'FUCK YEAH I'LL SIGN IT.'SuperPang wrote:Nice. Where'd you get that?

I was at magfest also and got to chat with him. Very nice guy.
Here is my load of goodies I picked up.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

A PAL 'Marketing Sample' PS Vita (mainly cool because it has 'NOT FOR SALE' printed across part of it and comes in a cardboard-fetish box-ticking box), a Mak autofire circuit for JAMMA (props to rancor), and some lovely Emerica Hsu The Who Magic Bus Ride shoes for me and my skateboard.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Actually yours came from TRY. MAK has been sold out for weeks now, and wont give me a date when they'll have more. They shrug their shoulders and do their well-practiced "teeth-sucking" routine. I bought the only one that TRY had, and they have yet to restock either.spadgy wrote:a Mak autofire circuit for JAMMA (props to rancor)
Nice shoes, BTW.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I bought my cousin an entry-level Mini-Z RC car for Christmas and it looked like so much fun I think small-scale RC will be my new hobby. No more Gran Turismo, not that I was ever enough of a car person to be interested in playing that anyway.

Team Losi Micro SCT & Kyosho Mini-Z MA-010. So far I have only driven the Micro SCT since I am still waiting for a KT-18 transmitter to be delivered.
I modded the Micro SCT to take 6xAAA batteries so it has 50% more power and at the same time runs for 4 times as long as the stock battery (but damned heavy now). It's a relatively inexpensive machine, so I didn't think twice before bashing it around the house and taking some big jumps. This thing is crazy wild fun.
I'm a bit more worried about damaging the Mini-Z, since it was EXPENSIVE, even more so after installing a bunch of aluminum parts on it. The fit & finish on the chassis is unbelievable though, such precision engineering that must be seen to be believed. I can't wait to race against my cousin, but I got him a MR-015i which is slightly nerfed electronically, I might have a big advantage...

I love this place - we all have more interest in autofire circuits and skateshoes than new handheld platforms. And so we should; I really like the Vita, but not as much as those shoes and that (TRY
) autofire circuit!

Gross!! After all the bad things I heard about them I'm not sure I'll ever set foot in that store. I absolutely hate getting otaku attitude at retail game shops. It's like getting hipster attitude at a record store where the minimum wage earning clerks all think they are the epitome of good taste.rancor wrote:MAK has been sold out for weeks now, and wont give me a date when they'll have more.
