I swear this is a real thing. Mainly I think it comes from 'expecting' the bullets, so you're aware of them sooner, which reduces your reaction time ever so slightly.

It is indeed real; David Sirlin became a top Street Fighter player thanks to his time slowing powers.

David Sirlin is so far up his own arse he's practically vomiting himself out all over the floor.

Been playing a lot of ESP.ra.de, Yuusuke mainly. I've noticed a weird problem though, and I'm curious if its related to the emulation in MAME. When I use Yuusuke's secondary attack during certain very thick patterns (Garra's final forms, in particular her second form with pink lasers + blue needles) slowdown occurs. It makes it REALLY hard to dodge consistently when every 1-2 seconds tiny "hitch" slowdown is occuring from my secondary shot. I haven't played Irori or JB5 enough yet to know if the same thing occurs with them.

Is this in the PCB?

Other than that and the annoying hitbox I can never seem to understand, ESPrade is great :D If I can just get better at Garra, a reasonable 1cc should be no problem... she is way harder than the ESPGaluda final boss imo. The randomness to a few of her attacks ups the "nervous" factor and makes it harder to have a easily memorizable strategy...

Not sure about the slowdown as i only play with jb5th but i totally agree that garra is harder than espgaludas final boss who really is pretty darn easy when you know how .

The stuttering slowdown is currently killing me in Futari BL on the level 3 boss. Just have to memorize the pattern to the stutter, I suppose. Kinda kills the point of slowdown, though, if I'm interpreting it right, which is to make the bigger patterns easier/more epic. Reminds me of one of the later bosses in Perfect Cherry Blossom.

I thought you were having fun with dfk mesh?

I'm playing Raiden Fighters 2. I thought I knew how this game worked, and related it closely to the psikyo style of shmups... And then I watched the superplay it came with.

WTF

I never knew thiat you could get 100k medals, I thought they maxed at 9k.

I also never knew there was grazing in any of the fighters games, and I've been playing them for almost a year.

Now, these games seem more similar to Raizing than Psikyo, with a lot of tricks that I need to learn.

I change my opinion on a lot of games after a few weeks. All those bullets that spawned; I want to dodge them, not cancel them. :p

Bio-hazard Battle. I almost forgot how much I loved that game. It's my favorite 16-bit shooter. I love it so much, I made it my avatar!

I feel ya man, the dodging interesting patterns is one of my favorite things about the genre.

Managed to actually get those 100k bars, and jumped my score from 5mil to 24mil. Finding all the small woodland creatures is not easy though.

I'm trying to decide if this is a game I want to sink some time into right now, as I need to get good at something already

If you get better at a Raiden Fighters game, it's instantly noticable. I really should get around to actually beating JET but screenrecording videos on PC are a bitch for me and that's been putting me off since I want to show more than a screenshot when I beat it.

Thanks for the info :)

I spent all night attempting to get max medal value on stage 1, and have done so 3 times so far. I haven't looked up any scoring tricks past stage 1 yet though.

Damn did it feel good finally pulling that off. So far, I've managed 19mil at st3 boss. Should have made it much further.

Almost 2-ALLed sonic sisters out of boredom. Too slow; won't play again. Might try an Eden's Aegis Hell run sometime though.

Okay, where did you get this crazy idea? R-Type III is way harder on me than the 1st one ever was. I almost beat it yesterday, but couldn't dodge the final bosses arms. :(

Daifukkatsu came in the mail yesterday. Definitely enjoying it. Auto-bomb helped get me to stage five on my first try. Hopefulyl I won't feel the meh any time soon.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

If you want to play DOJ Black Label on console, the 360 one is a worthy purchase as it includes an excellent port of it (hence its subtitle "Black Label Extra").

If you're happy with just the original "White Label" version, you can probably stick with the PS2 DOJ, which is rightly regarded as among the gold standard of shooter ports. The 360 one is fine, post-patch, but has longer initial loadup times and lacks 240p resolution graphics. It's also out of print and harder to find than the more recent Cave ports on the system.

The 360 port also has one of my favorite arrange soundtracks.

i really like the arrange option that comes with the ps2 port. adds a nice touch when you get bored with the regular bgm; not that you ever can =P

I didn't know there was an arrange on the ps2!

Is it different from the 360 arrange I wonder?

Have you tried Death Label yet? If so, how do you like it? I've been considering picking the ps2 port up, but not sure if its worth it for someone who already owns BLEX

I cleared Blaynix on Normal with One Credit!

Overall, the game is nothing to write home about, with the exception of Stages 4 & 5. (And the MUSIC.) Also, it's a bit too easy for the first two stages, and then it picks up from there. It's not my favorite Shmup, but it's amazing.

Also, someone should upload the OST for Blaynix.

Next stop, XOP Black Ultra!
Glory with the Moon. Mercy on the Earth.

yeah, there is an arrange soundtrack on the ps2 port. pretty funky. after checking out some youtube vids of the xbox 360 port, i think the arrange bgm for that one is different.. and yeah, ive tried death label. wayyy beyond me for now, but quite fun! those bullets fly at the speed of light, i swear.

Holy shit guys, I had no idea Gleylancer was so radical on Mania mode. It feels like Raiden Fighters - you really have to watch the screen to be able to dodge stuff. :o
