Just watched Callas Forever. Even if Fanny Ardant steals the spotlight from Jeremy Irons, I enjoy every time I watch that movie.

I hope so, or Jennifer Connelly's tits and ass are going to be redacted. That would upset a lot of shmuppers looking to shoot their core.

I'm pretty sure the mods will have a problem with an IMG tag as opposed to just a link. Not that here lady bits aren't a fine addition to the forum's decorum.

Osaka Tough Guys. A parody of Yakuza crime movies, and one that does it quite well. You get 2 high school drop-outs who run out of money in a single night(after blackmailing the school they left) and then decide to take a job posted in a local newspaper. From there they find out they are going to be part of the Yakuza and can't leave without death, and from then on it just gets more insane. I found myself laughing quite a lot at the stupidity they got themselves into so I must say Takashi Miike does a good job with this movie. Couldn't pass it up for $3.

I rewatched Conan the Barbarian last night.

Still a great film, and definitely one of my top three Arnold films (Total Recall and Commando are the others, at this moment). Is the rest of John Milius' oeuvre as good?

Just saw Les Miserables (2012). Singing was good (save Russell Crowe), acting was fine, direction was fine. But this just doesn't work as a movie. 2.5 hours or so of nonstop close-ups of singing whilst crying is just draining. And I was really craving an intermission, never realized how important those are in stage shows until now. Best moment was Anne Hathaway's aria - they made it the trailer for good reason. Pauline's (I think that's the character's name..) aria was very well done too. So my recommendation is check those two bits out on youtube and skip the rest.

Great. I'm probably going to have to see this since my woman went and saw the LoTR Extended triology (back to back) in the theater with me. Something tells me Les Mis is going to feel longer.

It could be "NOOOOOO!" - just like every fourth episode of Miami Vice's first season.

I was afraid of this. The trailer looked really awesome, but...uh...I've got a baaaad feeling about this.

I'm quite familiar with this gem though.
I've only seen bits and pieces of most of them. Labyrinth - nope, I'll join you in admitting that I haven't seen that one. Surprising. Every time I go to watch it I get distracted by some radio message for "Tom."

Seriously though, you people are SPIES who are scoping out everything I have been looking at or thinking about. Specifically this:

I had been interested to watch that one (and hopefully "Gangs of New York" also to do a comparison).

I think she was 14 at the time, so that was most likely a body double and not Jennifer. It's been a while since I've seen it, but it's another one of those movies that fans question a lot about the ending, although it's pretty obvious 8)

Just watched Harmagedon.

Holy shit, that was awful. But I'm 99% sure it would be at least tolerable if it was dubbed properly, or had decent subtitles instead. But that English dub is soooooooo bad.

Also some of the plot was dumb. I'd imagine the manga was much better.

I've never heard a good thing about Harmageddon. I'd still like to give it a shot. Dubbing ruins almost everything, though, so I think you can rule that out.

Let's see, as of lately...

Cannoball Run - So atrocious. Couldn't even finish it. Figured with ol' Burt and the giant cast I'd at least have mindless fun. I was wrong.

Bambi - Checked out the Bluray due to Cmoon's adamant request. Wish I would have done it sooner. So purty! Such smooth animation and no group songs. And those gorgeous backdrops! Really miss this stuff.

Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer - xbl0x has probably already said enough about this at some point. Fantastic movie, especially at the beginning if you're a Kaiju fan!

The Man From Nowhere (Arizona Colt) - A spaghetti western with Giuliano Gemma that I've had in my collection for a good number of years that I always meant to watch. All these years of anticipation...and I kind of hated it. Fairly boring outing that tries to mix comedy and the grit of the old west--a combo I usually hate, sans Tomas Milian ventures. Overly long with not much going on in between. Gemma is still cocky as usual, but it sadly didn't do much for me. Excellent crooning theme, at least!

Some of the scenes were pretty cool, and I thought the black kid's intro was hilarious and amazing.

The plot device near the end had the potential to be amazing, but of course they ruined it pretty much right after by reviving the espers that got petrified by Genma, completely removing the "sacrificial" element to it.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Enjoyably ludicrous and implausible action scenes undercut by a narrative that plays it a little too straight.

Rambo - Picked this up on blu-ray for cheap. I hadn't seen it since it was out in theatres and it was just as good as I remember it. So gloriously, unrepentantly violent...

Synecdoche, New York and Werner Herzog's death row documentary Into the Abyss, so my mind has been knocked all over the place.

Great stuff, both of them. Herzog's manner of getting people to open up in Into the Abyss is insanely good; sometimes funny, mostly touching, and often provocative of big thoughts, even in a tiny little head like mine.

One of those undefendable movies like Smokey and the Bandit. Liking it is like having some embarrassing disease you don't talk about in public. I won't try to spread it to any of you.
