For the Tsuujou loop your total misses plus bombs must be 6 or under. Therefore, you can lose every life (6 surplus) and if you didn't bomb you'll still make it into 2-1. It's not as much use for actual progress within the loop, though.

Getting my hands dirty on Mars Matrix again. I can't seem to grasp the idea of a bigger hitbox and delayed mosquito shield thanks to BWR+ and Deathsmiles.

R-Type Final and Raiden III, both of them for the PS2.

I can never get past Stage 2 in R-Type Final, especially when I reach the part with the waterfall, and a tree trunk that is blocking my way. It doesn't help that when you die, your pod is downgraded.

I know what to do with it now [force in back + dodge what is in front, wait till it goes in front enough to attack, switch force back to front, kill it], the issue is actually doing it, I usually miss when trying to get the force in the back [unless I'm starting back from the checkpoint, because I keep forgetting to do it before it comes on screen].

iirc if you're hugging the right of the screen with the Force rear-attached you shouldn't need to dodge anything - all the aimed bullets will be hitting the Force (with a bit of jockeying). Once the ship is overhead and the left side has opened up just increase to max speed, launch the force and haul ass after it for the re-attach. At that speed the bullets won't be able to keep up with you and then you can start hammering away at the battleship itself.

I love that whole sequence, simple but ridiculously satisfying bringing down that battleship after it initially has the drop on you.

Hitogata Happa's scoring system is incredibly broken, so I don't think I'll go further in it. Recollection and Gundeadligne though are just fantastic, and I love supergrazing everything in sight.

Darius Burst PSP, It turned out much better than I thought it would. Probably my favorite Darius game after Gaiden.

Oh man, thanks! Worked like a charm. Got killed like an idiot after doing it because I forgot to drop my speed back down after doing it, and then just put the game down, but that was much easier than what I was doing before. Yay!

Also, playing RayCrisis, the perspective view bothers me because of all this screen you cannot use to place your ship... -.-

Oh motherfucker that was annoying. Just had an amazing Eden's Aegis Run on Hell. Timed bombs perfectly, great scoring, managed to no-miss no-bomb the Stage 3 boss's first form, generally really good play. I game-overed at the very end of Stage 4, and as I did I was thinking: "I want the shmups forum to see this replay. If I accidentally continued (thereby losing the replay) I'd be so pissed off." In my excitement, I swear that the cursor moved to Yes, and then I hit it before I could process what I just did.

And yes, I did lose the chance to make a replay. And yes, I did call x.x a receptacle of human excrement. And yes, I may have punched a wall or two.

I tried to recapture that run, but despite an hour of practice I can't get close. So frustrating...
