I got this on release and I think it's kinda lame. I love the art style, I just can't get into the scoring system. Right now I think it's about alongside of Chaos Field though the art and graphics do set it above chaos fields generic art. I just wish i wasn't so put off by the gameplay.

I've played it for a while, I think it's pretty decent. I may buy it when it goes down to $30. ^.^

When is it going to do that? Dreamcast shooters, especialy the later ones, seem to be holding value pretty solid.

I'm not that interested in this game either. But I haven't played it at all, so...

Really? Damn... I dunno, it just seems like a $30 game. I honestly had more fun with Imperishable Night, and that only cost me $23, shipping included. I wouldn't want to pay more than what it's worth to me... :/

Heh, and I think it's better then that Under Defeat crap that everyone's raving about.

I've been getting back into this game recently, and I really am enjoying it quite a bit. It just took some time to finally click with me. But I'd honestly say that I like this game almost as much as Giga Wing 2.

I dunno. To me the game is loads of fun.
Can't say I expected it to be at first, considering I'm not a big fan of the cel-shaded style. But it's got loads of technique and the scoring system is weird enough where it keeps you playing to figure it out.

I'll often start a game, beat it, and then find myself starting over with a different character. That 100% item collection goal is still on my "list of things to do" as far as the game's concerned. :)

Wow, strong words. I'm quite a fan of GW.

And that's utter blasphemy Alske!

The Giga Wing games didn't do anything for me either. I usually have a tough time at first, then have an epiphany about the scoring system or gameplay, and my response is either "Oh my god, that's awesome!" (Mars Matrix, Homura, Ikaruga, Espgaluda) or "Oh.... I get it..." (Giga Wing, Chaos Field, DOJ, Mushi) With Radirgy, it's the latter

This isn't even close to as well done, scientifically. There is no point to bring up GW unless to say it's not nearly as good as GW.

I think you mean to say it's not nearly as good as GW2, cause it beats the crap out of 1 and Generations. GigaWing 2 strategy does carry over to Raji a little easy.

Under Defeat has spent 2-3 hours in my DC and I can't imagine myself ever playing it again. But then again I don't like a shooter made before Donpachi, and the big thing with UD seems to be how retro it is.

The real point is: Raji is awesome, and pretty unique.

Honestly I'd give them both a solid 7 . The Gigawing games are enjoyable but not without faults. *-neo

Now, lets be honest. Generations had some faults.

Now, Giga Wing 2, that was flawless.

I dunno, I like 1 a lot more than 2 actually-- 2 is somewhat easy by comparison with the later levels making it somewhat obvious when to reflect (because that's where the gaps in the patterns are), not to mention the last few levels being exclusively bosses. 1 seemed to require maybe a little more bullet dodging and had a pretty nice, full set of diverse levels even though it wasn't much in the looks and music departments. Yeah, Rajirugi really does remind me of the Gigawings.

Generations had some faults.
Graphical ones. I've only put a limited amount of time into it but I'd say it's shaping up to be one of the best. The point blanking is just too fun, other scoring elements simple but highly enjoyable.

Surely you jest... Under Defeat > Radilgy a thousand times over, and IMHO is on-par with-- if not better than-- Ibara.

Under Defeat... now there's a game I'd be willing to spend $60 on, having played it to see what it's like... maybe this fall when I don't have cons to save up for. x___x

Not even so much "graphical" (in the traditional sense) as "port-related"...the graphics themselves were nothing special, but weren't mind-bogglingly awful either, in my view anyway (not to the point where they'd detract from the gameplay, certainly). Unfortunately, the lack of the proper view mode and framerate, more than just making the game look worse, affected the game's precision, since the smaller view and missing frames made it more difficult (at least for me) to find and wriggle into the little spaces I'd need to squeeze through bullet patterns. Not "unplayable," but still hobbled.

A real shame, too...I truly think that if the port had been better, so as not to distract attention from the game itself, it would have received a MUCH different welcome around here.

One of my pet peeves in shooters is bullets with hit-boxes smaller then their displayed dimensions. Generations has this crap during the final stage and it drives me insane.

Anyone that thinks the graphics in Generations detract from the gameplay needs either a kick in the head, or to actually sit down and play the game. It's hella fun.

Its most deffinately not hella fun playing a port as shit as GWG and having to look at the ropey frame rate and fuzzy badly rendered badly framed display.

The port is an absolute load of arse which compounds Taito's recent lazyness, Its no wonder the last batch of PS2 shmups have all had poor conversions when the majority of people seemingly don't care whats put infront of them.
