Stuff like the chalice dungeons, the game's linearity and lack of build variety - all that didn't bother me for the longest time. But now that I'm in the middle of NG+ I'm srarting to feel unsatisfied with those aspects of Bloodborne.
It's definitely different from the Souls games, but I still think the replayability is totally there. Challenge runs are where it's at--give the level 4 game a go!
Yeah I've already been thinking of doing a low level run. And I've never done that in any of the Souls games yet! Must be exactly because there aren't many interesting builds I could play. But that's still far off. For now I want to finish NG+, the remaining chalices and do some root chalices. Then I'll definitely play an arcane build. After that I'd be free to attempt a chellenge run, but maybe by that time I'll have s.t. else to play or be burned out playing BB anyways.
Immryr wrote:ehhhh it doesn't seem that big of a deal to me. I mean, how many weapons do you really need maxed out on one character? with the new one in the dlc that's two maxed out weapons in new game, then it only takes a couple of hours to blast through to get to the nightmare of mensis in ng+ if you're desperate for another one quickly.

then again I'm not interested in pvp much in this game so maybe if you're into that big time it's good for maxing out your armour and stuff as well....
Agreed. There wasn't a strict need for purchasable blood rocks, but I guess it's a nice addition for players who missed the few ones obtainable otherwise and are somehow incapable of checking the internet.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

I followed Ryu's suggested path and went down through the woods and Byrgenwerth and I think I'm about done with the first blind playthrough. I'm in the Nightmare of Mensis just before the Nightmare Host fight. I nearly killed him on my second try but got spun around in his maze and ended up running out of vials before I found where his second hiding spot was. I think I'll head back and do the DLC before making the final push. Kinda bummed to see the game end so quickly, but I'm looking forward to the next playthrough with a new weapon (I put all my materials in to the Hunter's Axe) and more knowledge about the game system.

I was also a bit disappointed with the sudden ending of the game. Bloodborne's lore and story are so vague, I had not the slightest clue about what was going on and felt like the game ended appruptly for no reason.

Btw if what you described is all you did after Amelia, then you missed a good portion of optional content.

I glanced at a boss list and I only missed two, something Emissary and Martyr Logarius, so I didn't miss too much. I'll probably just finish this initial game then go for a more thorough playthrough with my next character.

I would have missed Logarius too if I hadn't looked up how to get to Cainhurst >_>

Cainhurst is one of the coolest areas in the game--a real shame if you miss it. It reminds me of the Painted World in Dark Souls in that way.

Starting to think a lot about the next direction for souls. Bloodborne 2 is probably inevitable, but I'm not sure it should be made. Part of me is really glad there's not Demon's Souls 2 since in a lot of ways that game is perfect for what it is.

Instead I've been thinking about how those souls engine could be applied to Tenchu (yeah, I think they still own the rights), or rather, how some of the core ideas for Tenchu could be layered on top of a souls style game. There are a few points in Bloodborne where I find myself using that blue elixir and it makes me wonder if they were at least contemplating how stealth would work in a game like this.

Its interesting to me after all this time that when you go back and look at the original Tenchu, it is still a very unique title. It isn't just ninja metal gear solid. If you can imagine for a second how the meeting place of From Soft's love of katanas, meets Miyazaki's level design, meets souls combat, and just maybe this might be something they're serious considering.
