Lord Hypnos - Crimzon Clover web demo - Stage 1 - 42,842,870
Spoiler
A few credits later, I actually understood the basic mechanics of this game, and made it to the boss. Oh well. I still find it pretty hard though. A lot of very tight bullet patterns even in just the first stage, and sometimes it's hard to focus on bullets while using the homing attack.
ColonelFatso - Ikaruga: the Dottening - Stage 2 - 200,500
Finally got it through my thick skull that once I've got the right X position to get through one row of boxes, I shouldn't be moving left and right any more. Exploded spectacularly immediately thereafter, though.
Uhh for the Reflex challenge.. are we allowed to reflect if it means an enemy dies?
because if not, god damn how are you supposed to avoid all those homing lasers.
I tried. My run ended stage 1b because I accidentally reflected a shot into popcorn

you can reflect but not kill anything.
homing lasers can actually be dodged easily If I'm correct.
ACSeraph has won the mysterious secret.
You get to add a new game mechanic.

A reworking of the credit system that emphasizes risk/reward and survival. Seeing as scores can't really be compared game to game, I figured we could make this more competitively oriented by awarding credits based on survival time. Basically you earn one credit per stage you clear. This would motivate you to not suck, and it gives you an extra motivation to use a credit if you perform unusually badly. For example, lets say you draw a game you normally can make it to stage 4 in, but you derp out and die in stage 2. You have incentive to spend a credit to retry, because you could end up with more credits if your gamble pays off and you perform well on the second try, instead of 1 credit for clearing one stage, you clear spend one and end up clearing 3 stages, getting you a net gain of 2 credits. To facilitate this and to save you updating time, players should keep up with how many credits they have total after each attempt and add it to the bottom of their post.
In detail:
You earn one credit per stage cleared in any given roll (so if you die in stage one, you get nothing)
You can retry at the cost of one credit
Rerolls no longer exist as a separate entity, a reroll simply costs 5 credits
To give an incentive to participating and amassing high credit counts, a player may at any time spend 50 credits to call a forced game.
The existing special challenges that allow you to call a forced game should stay, they just let you call a game without spending your credits.
Keep up with your own credits and add it to the end of each submission
...and I think that's about it. What do you think?
If you die in the first stage of any roll, you can use a credit/reroll as you see fit for free.

This should be fine.

Wait, so does this mean that, For example, If I roll Truxton (a game that I've never made it past S-1 of), I can either keep try until I make S-2 on 1 credit, or else reroll without spending any credits? And then still get the usual credit from playing a game?
Also, I like the 12 hour rule That should be nice.
I can live with free credits until you at least beat stage two, but I don't think rerolls should ever be free. Being forced to play a random kusoge every now and then is half the fun. And honestly if you can't beat stage one even with free rerolls, you should just post your stage 1 results, not play something else imo.
Major update that updates almost nothing in the first post.
Also put quickman in your sig if you're an active quickening player. (also in first post)

Well your first suggestion was already honored, this one is up to me and I think its more unfair than fun.
But you're more right than wrong about the rerolls, so I removed that part.

Cool. In order that I become able to roll again, does anyone have a link to where I can find the free demo of refleX? probably didn't look hard enough, but I couldn't find it when I was searching.
EDIT: I quite like our new plot Very late 80s / early 90s console port, except without quite as much engrish. I can just imagine a lightly animated 16 bit anime style cut scene .
I think that all should find the addition to my signature satisfactory.
