Why did you get VF (Virtua Fighter 5, I presume) for PS3 if you've got an Xbox already?

Well, Virtua Fighter (Final Showdown) has one of the smaller scenes in the West, so I wanted to be able to play both sides of the coin, so to speak, on both systems. It was also heavily discounted on PS+, so possibly slightly more people have it now for PS3 (even though the 360 version is demonstrably smoother and more stable). I've been playing VF on Xbox for like 6 years lol, along with all the other great JP made games it has, like 'ruga, Bayo', 'Vesperia, Akai', RSG etc.

Dark Souls, do not want. Artwork just doesn't appeal. Valk' Chron', yup, need that, for sure. A SEGA RPG!

On topic then, yeah, PS3, look forward to having a decent shooter on it, because as you can see from my sig pic, PlayStation always used to be great for tasty STG conversions, no doubt.

I'm not an expert on this subject, but I've heard (finnish fgc) that SFIV arcade version had more than 2 frames of input lag, and that good japanese players prefer PS3 version of the game BECAUSE it has more lag than xbox, and therefore is closer to original arcade version.

Just to be clear, that's likely the absolute number of frames from button press to the visible startup of certain moves. At least on 360, relative input lag difference compared to the arcade version is closer to 0. That linked video showing how the PS3 lags more may be correct but the testing method is too inaccurate to use as evidence.

I can't detect 1 frame of lag, but I can easily detect 3 frames of lag given 30 minutes of testing with a fighting game.

People will prefer whatever platform and setup they are accustomed to. But Arcade players will definitely prefer Xbox/PC over PS3. The PS3 version lags more than the other platforms (up to 3f). Now while 1f of input lag isn't a big deal (for most scenarios), when you get to 2f - 3f it starts getting really noticeable.

On all platforms there is an inherent 4f of input lag (many game in fact have this 4f lag buffer). Anything beyond that can be considered "laggy", and basically that's the only value that matters. However, input lag can also come from external factors. LCD input lag is also a huge factor, and can be a contributing factor into what people (often incorrectly) perceive to be the "best" version of a game. Next up is controller input lag. Some pads/sticks lag more than others. This can also skews people's perceptions. On PC, you have to consider your graphics settings, and stuff like V-Sync which can also add lag.

(For interest's sake lag on the PS3 version of SSFIV is noticeable even in "perfect" conditions).

The bottom line however is that even if one version of a game lags more than the same game on a different platform, sometimes external factors are the bigger issue (LCD, controller, game/upscaler/v-sync settings etc). If it does turn out that the one version of Ketsui lags 1f more than the other, you're only really going to notice it if you're already playing on a laggy setup.

I love this game so fucking much, but I don't really want to spend a lot on it considering how much I went through to find it for DS and 360 IN JAPAN and couldn't find it, I think I gave up on it.
