You are stereotyping entire racial groups based on your 'observations'. That is racist. Saying it isn't doesn't change that. The fact that you yourself realize that it 'sounds' racist should be a pretty good indicator here. I'm also pretty impressed with how you can identify where someone is from at a glance.TrevHead (TVR) wrote: Like I said most of what ive written would seem to be typical racist ranting, but it isnt this is from personal experience.

It comes across in bad taste to anyone outside of the UK, but the strains caused by unfettered immigration has been one of the country's most pertinent social and political issues for some time now. It's a constant talking point both in the news and in Parliament.jonny5 wrote:You are stereotyping entire racial groups based on your 'observations'. That is racist. I know Trev doesn't mean any harm by his words, although I can see how they may be perceived. Unless you live in the UK it's difficult to properly grasp the loss of identity through multiculturalism, or unemployment issues that have arisen since the influx of low paid foreign migrants.
Personally I'm not affected in any way, but I am aware of growing frustrations in areas of low employment.

Dude, I'm Canadian. What would we know about loose immigration laws, multiculturalism and people taking advantage of our laws? I just choose not to blame the people, I blame the system that allows such abuses.
Protip: If you don't want to come across as racist, don't stereotype whole races based on your observations in your home town, and don't constantly refer to everyone by their race.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Oh I agree 100%. I've got nothing against anyone being in the UK if they want to be, including the wife. It would be nice for the government to man up and dig itself out of the situation, but as usual, they're hopelessly feeble.I just choose not to blame the people, I blame the system that allows such abuses.

It has its advantages for automated processing (say, is that ". " the end of a sentence, or just the end of an abbreviation?), and it's still the way to go with certain typesetting programs, but it's by far no longer the preferred standard.rancor wrote:I still do this and had no idea it was a problem for anyone..
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Did you read what you wrote? You start off pointing out how you feel about Muslims, not your government, having found somebody who shares your opinion of them. Then you start listing off all the other racial groups around you and how they are 'keeping you down'.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Have you actually read what ive written? I too mostly blame the goverment aswell for actually allowing all this to happen, for allowing imigrant communitys to live in their own sealed little countries. This if fine when they are a small minority but when the population grows and longer a minority and still acts in the same way (infact ild say worse because now they have the political clout to make changes in their favour like making shiria law partially legal in the UK) its a big problem for those who live outside their racial community.I just choose not to blame the people, I blame the system that allows such abuses.
I find it funny how ppl only see racism / sexism or anyother ism as only applying to those groups mostly effected and anybody not belonging to that group has the nerve to cry foul gets branded as one himself.
Im sure that as a man no women has ever been sexist towards you has there?
This kind of ignorance & PE bullshit that has allowed some parts of the UK to get into such a mess. Its about time those in charge grew some balls and made real changes because if they dont do it soon theyll loose the political power to do so.
And just so ppl know 100% where im coming from ill say that im not a racist, I just want better integration and us all to be one big happy family instead of been some 2nd class citizen in the country that I and my forefathers come from (scratch that with devolution in Scotland and Wales ill change that to 3rd class)
If things are that bad where you live, move. It sounds more like you are angry that foreigners are taking all the low paying jobs leaving you out in the cold. Perhaps instead of blaming those around you, you take control of your own life and try and improve your lot , rather than blaming recent immigrants from 3rd world countries who are not trained to do anything but labor.
I understand you aren't trying to be racist, but you have to understand that when you make posts like that, worded that way, it comes across as racist. This isn't a matter of being PC; racism is racism, regardless of how you try and explain it away.

No sweat man. Just keep in mind that only folk within the UK have an internal perspective on the issues you raised, but throwing it open on an international forum is never going to go down the same way as discussing it in the pub, or better yet, with your local MP.TrevHead (TVR) wrote: EDIT Thx SkyKid for taking the time to explain my position, I should of left it there but I carried on digging

I had a really good point I was going to make in regards to this topic but then I found another little thing that annoyed the hell out of me.Skykid wrote:No sweat man. My fucking keyboard pressing some shortcut I DIDN'T want it to do, hitting Favourites, picking a site and going there thus losing all of the text I had written previously!

The point I was going to make was:
It's not just the UK, it happens here in Australia too (and I imagine everywhere else though the context of which will change), and it's all fine-and-dandy for someone to call someone racist but that's the easy way out instead of actually asking why he has that view and respecting it for what it is (respecting it and agreeing with it are two different things btw).
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
When a seller, in the sales sub-forum, sells an item and simply replaces the price with "Sold". Ok, fine, it's gone. Delete that shit. If it's in the thread title, edit it. The same goes for sellers who have a list at the bottom of the post containing all the items previously sold.

Im with you 100% there but its all about context of where its voiced. And the shmups forum or infact anywhere on the internet isnt the right place for it. And like a turd, stinks and ppl want to stay away from it and it attracts flies. I thought itld keep those posts up there as a reminder to others and myself, but its just ugly so im gonna delete it. Sorry for those who I might HAVE offended. The point I was going to make was:

I was at the laundromat earlier today and when my clothes were just about done drying this woman walks in, sets a whole bunch of her shit on the folding table right in front of the dryers my clothes are in and puts her laundry in the washing machine. Fucking... why? You won't need it for an hour and a half. Instead of taking my clothes straight from the dryer to the table, I have to cart them across the laundromat to a table in the corner because this twat needs to make sure she has the choice table when her clothes are done more than an hour from now. Fucking people...
Feedback will set you free.

What really pisses me off is when you're doing something for someone and while you're actually doing said task the person who's asked you to do it can see you doing whatever it was but still "reminds" you to "make sure you wash the dishes/take the clothes out of the tumble dryer" etc etc.
You can see i'm F'ing doing it you retard, why would you feel the need to remind me to do something i'm clearly already doing and please dont get defensive about it when you get a pissed off reaction for your idiotic statement!

New one for this morning..
Working all night on a customers network, say.. until 5AM.
Then catching some sleep and waking to an e-mail wondering why you didn't join the 9AM conference call they cooked up to discuss next steps.. WTF?

My most frustrating shmup death ever, though, was loosing my last like after killing the final boss of Fighting Hawk. I'd never 1CC'd it before, and it definitely didn't count, as I wasn't awarded the game's disproportionately huge 1CC bonus.

This happens to me all the time when playing Battle Garegga and Ibara, more often than not when I'm fighting a boss in either one. It drives me up the wall.Losing your last life at 19,999,XXX when the extend is at 20,000,000 like I just did playing DDP at the arcade.
EDIT: Come to think of it, I have no idea what a "Garegga" is. Was that some kind of engrish mix up, or does this word hold any meaning whatsoever?

Mileage claims.
When your manager says if you live closer to where ever your going then you claim exact miles. But when you live further away from your HQ you have to claim the miles between HQ and where ever your going.
Is this a standard or some made up shit?

B: I suck at grammar, but at least I know the double space is pointless and fucking annoying when it comes to modern online and printed text, barring some extremely narrow fonts.
C: Does anyone know where the practice of double spacing after a period/full stop came from?
Also since we're discussing our common written language, I'd like to sound off on the spelling of tire/tyre. Specifically the British folk I speak to on a regular basis that refer to tire as a bastardized American spelling. The word is most probably derived from the word attire as it was used to dress a wheel (see OED definition). Both spellings were used interchangeably in the UK at first, but by 1700 only tire remained in common usage. It wasn't until the invention of in the late 1800s that the spelling tyre began to be used again in Britain.
"...there is nothing to be said for 'tyre', which is etymologically wrong, as well as needlessly divergent from our own older & the present American usage." - A dictionary of modern English usage By H. W. Fowler, 1926
Tire was first, tyre is the bastardization.
Same goes for Aluminum/Aluminium, though the etymology of that word is significantly more convoluted and includes Alumium.
