Well this adapter is way better.
Plus you'd have to buy new special cables for every single console on the J-PAC that cost quite a bit.
And don't even think about using the J-PAC for controls.

hi aznxtc , yes i agree with Jockel.............also the J-Pac is problematic in more ways than one imo its only good for PC to Arcade use. Viletims adapter is far superior for Console to Arcade use , he has done a brilliant job with it and has acheived what other Console to Arcade adapters claim to do.

For console video to arcade monitor most definitely, but you still need to buy special RGB/SCART cables for each console, as well as a set of pads to hack/solder to connect to Viletims adapter.

Thanks for all the feedback guys i really appreciated...I will go with viletim Adapter then.
I already have some hacked pads already done up so that should'nt be a problem.

As for RGB/SCART cables on the USA Wii...On the previous post speedlolita said change the region
or buy a component to RGB SCART converter. I don't want to change my region so my only option is buying the converter. Im having a hard time finding one do guys know of any sites?... links please.

Is this the only console i have to worry about buying a RGB SCART converter for?....Or does this apply to All USA and Japanese consoles.

Only the Wii mate. :D It's to do with the firmware.

Everything else is fine.

Something like that should do.

Also, the J-Pac has an issue with some monitors and PS2/PSX. If you run Gradius V, the Konami logo is black instead of red for example, and lots of red details in the games are black. Ultimarc refuses to fix this issue also. viletims adapter does NOT have these issues.

I think that first UK ebay link was scart to component only. You need the other way around, or perhaps it works both ways.

I have a scart>component but not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure it was Component to RGB SCART despite the item description.

You just have to make sure that once it's converted the SCART is actually RGB and not composite! (Is that even possible from component?)

On 30 March I posted about a problem with small horizontal scrambled lines on my New Astro City, slowly running from the bottom to the top of the screen. It was suggested that it could be caused because I didn't have the power resistor in place. I couldn't test it back then because I lost the resistor somewhere.

Today I received my second adapter, together with two power resistors (thanks Viletim :D ) and as I got an Aero City last week I tested both adapters with my xbox 360 on the Aero, with and without the power resistor in place. And both adapters produce a great picture, with and without the power resistor. So that is OK.

However, I did the same test on my New Astro City again, and the scrambled lines are still there, with both adapters and with or without the power resistor in place, like shown by s8n on page 11. So the power resistor didn't solve it.

anyone another idea for a solution?

Tim, thanks a ton for the adapter. Got it in yesterday and a ps2 cable in the mail today. Works like a charm and I'm playing tons of games.

what is the console plugged into for power?

as viletim said, it looks like noise from the powersupply....ive experienced this with mame setups (hacked the power supply cable into the power input for the cab to avoid another external cord)

do you have the console plugged in to power from the cab?

try plugging the console into a surge protector/power bar and see if that helps

:D :D Thanks Jonny5, problem solved. I had the power cable of the 360 plugged into a 3-way power extention socket, which was connected to the wall socket. I now plugged the 360 power cable directly into the wall socket and the scrambled lines are gone.

thanks mate. :P

no worries man....glad to help :)

i had this problem with my mametopia setup in all my cabs until i was reading something and it got me thinking about the actual cause....i realized it was due to the PC power supply cable drawing from the same connections as the cab....once i switched to external connection for the powersupply for the PC the problem was gone.....

funny too....took me over a year to put 2 and 2 together

I sold the last adapter today. Thank you to everybody that bought one.

I feel there is still significant demand so I'm not calling it a day just yet. My plan is now to design a new version which will be more manufacturable. With luck I should have something to show within two months from now. Once that's done, I'll turn my attention to sorting out something to expand on the complete absence of a controller interface.

hiya viletim , thats a bummer as i wanted to buy 2 more to total 4 as i have 2 already.........but its great news that you are not done yet and are going to redesign it and release a new Adapter.

And yes there is a demand on them as what you have created is simply superb , there are other Adapters out there but yours is superior to them ......you have achieved what other creators and their hardware cant.

I cant wait to see the next Adapter ill be one of the first in line to grab 2 or more.

good luck and thank you

Does the interface work with the adapter?

The problem with PS1 is too many buttons to support, but I agree its the best one to do.

I got mine today and I have to say it blows my expectations away, and I had really high expectations! This thing is amazing!

Tried it out with my genesis in the cab and it looked awesome

...but then I tried it with my supergun which outputs in component video...omg component vid sega on my TV if I choose, such a great little gizmo.

my genesis(minus the top of the case) hooked up to the viletim adapter and my supergun

It running in component video on my TV

Is that a supergun in the picture? Youv'e used this adapter and a supergun to get component video out of a genesis? I guess thats one way to do it.

haha yeah, I wanted to see if it would work this way as well. Now I know if I dont feel like playing in my astro I can always hook it up this way to achieve a better quality video signal.
