You can get rid of that Metroid Other M now.Obiwanshinobi wrote:Sin & Punishment 2

Well, bought Other M real cheap (for a sealed copy) and liked what little I played it. Funnily enough, S&P2 reminds me of it quite a bit (I don't consider the context sensitive dodging any cheaper than frames of invulnerability countless classic action games give you, or the stuff you can get away with in, say, Viewtiful Joe). Can't say I like either better than Wild Guns at this point, though (where frames of invulnerability were half of the fun to be had).

How much did you pay for S&P2? Only single digits, I hope?
Bought my copy for 5€.

I wish, but no, paid more than that (it was sealed alright). About the prices I see on Ebay for a new copy now. Probably overpaid, but I'm not very knowledgeable in the getting my stuff cheap on the internet aspect. Saw it cheaper the other day, but missed the boat. How much did you pay for S&P2? S&P 2 is worth the money. I preordered it, paid full price and got a poster and some Nintendo eshop credit and don't worry about what I could have saved by getting it later. I hope Treasure can afford to make a third game on Wii U...
Now, Metroid Other M is the game I wouldn't mind having bought at a discount. I also preordered and got some goodies for having done so, but this game is so beneath the Prime series...

Oh come now, there is no way Prime is on the same tier as Super Metroid. There's also no way Metroid II and Fusion are on the same level.

If I were the one who made this tier list, I would have moved both Prime and Super down from god to high, moved II up there, and stuck Fusion and P3 down to mid. :V

Super Metroid was my favorite game ever, until Prime

Who the hell puts Prime 3 above Prime 2 and the original?

Girl, using a scanner to take those pics is just to cool. I KNEW the gizmo would come in handy one of these days.

Squier, believe it or not.
It's the J. Mascis signature model. Everywhere I read gave it great reviews and i've always wanted a Jazzmaster.
Couldn't be more excited (except i can't play guitar for shit).

Looks nice!!!
The extra ports are implemented because you can hook this baby to a tv! Really nice!

Stop lurking Stealthlurker!
My only concern with the Supaboy is that it looked a little unwieldy. I don't mind the cart sticking out the top, but it generally looked really bulky - how is it in real life?
Also, SFC is supposed to work out the box, can you confirm?
Buttons & d-pad?
Screen quality?

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
^SFC carts fit without modification.
The screen is surprisingly clean and sharp. It does hook up to your TV, though the sound suffers and is there is a slight buzz when turned up. I wouldn't recommened as a replacement for a SNES, but as a backup, its not a terrible idea.
It uses a very similar setup as the FC Hyperkin NES (Original Nintendo) and GENMOBILE (Genesis) handheld systems, ie - you slide the cart in at the top and it is a tight fitting pin. This is great for the connection, however the pieces holding the pin connector to the board are extremely small / weak - similar to the above mentioned handhelds - I can definately see them giving way due to pulling / pushing too hard (as needed however) on the cart to get it in and out.
As a novelty or as a portable fun option, it has some value - beyond those reasons, I wouldn't suggest buying one.

fair enough that makes sense ! they should have used something to cover the port holes thoughDrachenherz wrote:Looks nice!!!

Do you think the sound when outputted to TV could be improved with a high quality lead, or is it a design issue?
Could you also give us some fb on the buttons & d-pad and how they compare to the original pad?
Finally (my real issue) the thing looks a bit enormous! But then I only saw the prototype vids. Is the final build stupidly bulky (to the point that it looks daft used in public places?)
Thanks for the info CulDad78.

I think its a speaker / design issue - a diff. lead wouldn't fix that. Anything above 1/3 volume is noticable buzz, turn it beyond 70% volume and becomes annoying.Skykid wrote:Thanks for the impressions.![]()

One thing I haven't tried - plug into the TV, turn supaboy volume down and TV volume up, that may resolve the issue for TV only gaming - I think its a permanent flaw for the portable option. It is being reported on other reviews already as well, so I don't think I got a bad egg - it sounds like this is the rule, not the exception.
The buttons are significantly better then the Hyperkin NES and not as quality as original snes pads - so ok, but not great. So far response has been spot on - hopefully that lasts.
On it's own, it is big, but not uncomfortable in the hands - however adding in that 65% of the cart is protruding out the top, it certainly gives it an odd appearance. Also, adding the cart out of the top, makes the small screen appear even smaller - the screen quality itself is impressive, but small - I would've thought given the size, they could've squeezed out another 1/2" diagonally.
If I recall the NES version came out around $69, then quickly dropped to $49, then found new on ebay shortly after that for $39. My guess is this will have some "gotta have it now" sales the first few weeks - and then it will drop. It is on Amazon (US) for $79 right now.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Wicked, thanks for the help with that. It sounds like something I'll make suggestive comments about in the direction of my significant other in regards to what would be nice for Christmas.CulDad78 wrote:I think its a speaker / design issue - a diff. lead wouldn't fix that. I wish they could have included a bigger LCD too (from the vids I could see it was a little small), but it's good to hear the quality is crisp. Regarding size, I suppose I'm just going to have to look like some kind of weirdo playing with a kids electronic learning toy on train journeys, lol.

lol, sorry for the delay but CulDad is spot on with his impressions. The d-pad is pretty good, though it stuck a bit at times. As stated the screen is quite nice in picture quality. In addition, the unit itself is huge! Reminds me of the SEGA Nomad. You would definitely look weird walking around with this in public lol. However it could be a viable portable on trips with the PowerPak. That was the first cart I tested it with, everything worked fine.
I got mine from Amazon at the price mentioned above. Overall I like it quite a bit. I think it's better overall compared to the other portable SNES the FC-16 Go.
