Exactly the same reasoning - especially as handhelds are getting more online features. But the original argument for region locking was preventing currency fluctuation from harming sellers (both resellers, i.e. retailers, and original manufacturers) and preventing dumping (I guess Japan thinks that American copies are more likely to be dumped elsewhere; it makes me wonder whether it might make sense to only implement partial region locks but probably they don't want to bother as the market situation can be quite volatile and they don't want to let through situations that will cause parties to get very angry. Gamers, well, fuck what we think, of course

Gotcha. But what about region locking online marketplaces, like the Wii Virtual Console, for instance? I think it's pretty stupid that you have to buy a Japanese Wii just to download games that were only released on the Virtual Console in Japan.

I might as well say that it's really annoying me that, over the past 10 years or so, I've met and worked with plenty of gorgeous ladies from the Midwest, but they're all either married or not interested. :( :(

Good question - I bet there's legacies of the traditional publishing arrangements holding back some games from international release.

It truly pisses me off that everyone's using Facebook's fucking shitty chat instead of dedicated messaging clients. This is like using a wrench to hammer in a screw: a jerry-rigged mess of a solution that just fucking barely works. This is like that guy who tried to do magazine layouts in CorelDraw. Like those scientists who stored results in Excel and lost months of experiments when the whole shit crapped out. Like using Comic Sans for anything other than explaining why you should never use Comic Sans. This is the kind of shit that marks you as a goddamn philistine.

I'm like... addicted to taking walks. All this week (except Sunday) I took 3 walks, today I took 4 or 5. I think part of the reason is that it gives me an excuse to walk by my friend's house (who I haven't spoken to in years) hoping for a chance encounter, but idk.

The time of year when you end up turning on the lights in your house at around 4:30 or 5:00.

People who are looking into their glowing rectangular objects (smartphones) while walking in crowded places, bump into you, and then blame you for not watching where you're going.

Do you have an addon that is blocking social stuff like the 'Like-Buttons'? I have and I can't see any comments either. It might be because the comments are now a social site thing too, I guess.

Stop trying to force me to use your horrible social media nonsense, I couldn't possibly care about G+. I am nearly at the breaking point where I'm ready to wipe all my vids from YT and see about transferring to an alternate video site.

And when I try to link my page to a horrible G+ site with a fake name it asks me "would you like to use your full name on Youtube?" WHAT NO "okay we'll ask again later" WHAT STOP, NO DON'T ASK AGAIN.

Google, you are horrible. I will use DuckDuckGo religiously over you.

When people I know IRL won't stop bugging me about buying a game that they're gonna only play for 2 weeks, so I finally cave in and get BF4 because BF3 was pretty fun overall. Then this happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBwCRZlos-U
I'm quite awe-struck that a game could be so shoddy on release.

Haha. I won't say what I was thinking about when I read about people blaming you...just that it involved subway platforms and trains

Actually I did something similar to rancor recently. Some dudes (who happened to be black, omg) wandering down the sidewalk three abreast, not paying attention who was coming, so I only moved off at the very last instant. I heard a little "whoa" as I went past. It's no skin off my back to move out of the way for somebody but I think that it's a little reminder that you could walk into a light pole or something.

There's a reason, but only if there are loads of files in the inner ZIP: solid compression. The inner ZIP has each file zipped individually. The outer ZIP compresses any remaining redundancy. MAME's source is double ZIP'd IIRC because of this.
On the other hand, any corruption of something that's double-ZIP'd results in none of the files being extractable.

There are better formats with specific support for this kind of compression [eg, RAR, 7Z], so that's still a reason to be annoyed. :P

Companies like Google need to memorize the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", and stop this nonsense. I don't put up videos on Youtube, but I subscribe to quite a few channels, and I don't want to have to go to some other video websites to watch videos because of this dumb policy that Google has.

Oh yeah, and Yahoo! email has now changed their format, so that when you clean out your Trash, for example, it praises you with the following message: "Nice job, it sure looks tidy in here! There are no emails in your Trash folder."

OK, so my self-esteem is usually not that great, but I really don't need Yahoo! to validate it!

Eh, the reason they can't adopt the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach is that they are always looking to "capture more audience" in relation to what other companies are doing - even the threat of that happening means that there's a constantly shifting target, unfortunately.
