Here's the back of the LE package. Indeed, looks like a DVD box:

I notice that the back of the case has the "This game decorates the end of Dreamcast." tagline.

Interesting, time to figure out how to work this onto my shelf. This might still be better than Shikigami no Shiro 2 LE and it's cardboard sleeve holding 2 jewel cases together.

Heh, maybe now I won't have to put off picking up Cosmic Smash.

That would be great. If it's the last DC game, they should really go all out.

It's supposedly the last DC game, so it shouldn't be too much surprise they're going to make it a little special, escpecialy if you dropped the money on one of the LE editions.

I've got the regular release coming as I don't think I'll be selling it. So I'm still curious about what all of us that only dropped $60 on this are going to be getting as far as packaging...?

G.Rev's standard edition Border Down cover was arguably superior to the art on their L.E. package... but will history repeat itself?

If you bought the Border Down LE you got the standard art too, as the manual is the same.

It might not be a DVD case. It could just be a big box. Alot of special editions which I have are in a big box. (like the old Amiga PC packaging). with the CD in a jewel inside.

anyhows, thats all not important (definatley not enough to argue about).. i want to play it :)

And seeing as how the manual is the cover art on a standard game, all you would have to do is put the LE game in a standard jewel case and voila, you have the "better" standard artwork...
Feedback will set you free.

I'm not excactly sure why, but somehow I'm a bit sad about the prospect of the DVD case - I actually hope it's just a card outer box with a double-CD case inside. I guess I just want all my games to fit on the shelf nicely.

I think it's odd people are not happy about the idea of a DVD case. Don't you guys own PS2, Xbox, GC games, etc., even DVDs? This would fit just fine on one of those shelves.

Damn, I'm good ^_~

If you're unhappy about it, it's not like the GD itself won't fit in a standard CD case.

That'll be the thing to bitch about with UD though - just like how Gradius 5 didn't have any moai's or Homura didn't have red blood, etc. etc.

Amaray cases suck. I thank it for introducing tons of production errors involving discs not being pushed in correctly, manuals getting crushed when put into place and damaged by the tabs, and an easily scratchable plastic that can't be replaced unlike jewel cases. It's literally impossible to keep perfectly mint condition DVD cases, which sucks if you're condition obsessive.

Since the scaled/filtered graphics argument doesn't apply to Dreamcast, people have to bitch about something!

I guess that's what it all boils down to. I mean, I'll admit I have some OCD, but I guess some are worse off than me. I just want to play the damn game really. It could be a disc in a paper bag for all I care.

Release is upon us... :D

Though I know I'm farting onto a lit match by questioning Deadcast's divinity in such a thread, I feel I should point out this bit of misinformation:

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Alpha 3, double impact, mars matrix, etc. etc. Scaling up + filtering started with the DC.

I think you're refering to the screen movement in Giga Wing. Mars Matrix gives the player complete customization of respective resolution, however, if you resize the game to the native CPS2 resolution, you'll be playing on an image that's roughly 1/4 of the screen.

Who owns a tv that can stretch out that resolution into full screen?
Usually on tc and monitor you can only stretch out about 20%.which is not enough. I think all tv's should have a game option: STRETCH to full screen. But this might be bad for the tube?

oh no

resolution talk

I don't know what's worse, NG.com's ports suck or shmups resolution massacres (and to a degree that's just a variation of the "ports suck" argument)

glad this will be in high res on a VGA box

there shouldn't be ONE complaint on the resolution

after all the talk about the shoddy resolution, I cancelled my pre-order and bought Snow instead.

^^^nice!! Yeah, when I was in Akihabara about two years ago I saw the LE of Borderdown go for like $160 or so. The exchange rates a little better for us Yanks now but damn, It't not like this is some old and super rare PCE. BD only came out maybe 3 years ago.

BTW, according to NCSX there were only about 3,000 copies of the LE made. I can only assume that the print run for the LE of Under Defeat is gonna be that or less...

Well, that's what one would logically assume.

And since one would logically assume that, probably five times as many people preordered the LE than three years ago, when BD came out, meaning everybody and their grandmother will get an Under Defeat LE.

I was thinking the same

this might be one of those games that just holds it's value

which really isn't a bad thing

I just hope the game is so quality that you don't need to think of selling it

I really hope everybody and their grandmothers does pick this game up. If the sales actually increase from BD then Grev is gonna be hitting themselves even harder for not releasing Senko no Ronde on DC. Seriously, what a joke the 360 is in Japan

If sales are good hopefully Sega will not try to force this no more DC games thing on companies. I wanna see that new Shmup by ex-seibu staff. But I guess all of this goes without saying for our kind...
