Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
So many Madcatz TE mods! I just swapped out the stock Sanwa JLF for a new Seimitsu LS-32-01 on my TE stick and I think I've caught the stick modding bug. I want to add in new art and buttons right away haha.
I'm currently brainstorming ideas for a Crimzon Clover stick and trying to gather some artwork. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many high res pics online for that game. If anyone knows of any I'd appreciate the info.

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
copados33, those "ugly"'sticks are awesome! I'd be interested in hearing about what the casings are made from. I especially like that little guy with the blue balltop.

That little stick with blue balltop is indeed awsome. A cute little stick. I'm jealous

Here's a blog post with more pictures and details: http://jay--mccarthy.blogspot.com/2011/ ... stick.html
The stick was made by brokenhalo
Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
Finished wiring up my Xbox 360/PC arcade stick last night.
I used a Seimitsu LS-32-01 with Seimitsu buttons. Feels excellent, have had a quick play with Mushi Futari 1.5/Deathsmiles and it took me 20 mins to get used to using the stick. Now I cannot imagine using anything else!
Beat my rather modest high scores on both games with it already

Not done the artwork for the Back and Guide buttons yet

That is a great looking stick. I love how space itself get's most of the artwork rather than putting too much stuff on it. Love the button as well!Edwards80 wrote:Finished wiring up my Xbox 360/PC arcade stick last night.

Here are my custom sticks :
Mushihime Sama Stick (previously a ps2 stick, today a supergun to play my shmups).

"Astro Stick" (ps2 and xbox360 stick).

And Hokuto No Ken Stick (for Dreamcast).

I also made superguns since I started Arcade :

Way to go Goji, the whole "supergun inside a joystick" is something I've always wanted to do, but never got around to.goji wrote:Here are my custom sticks :
Great work.
Curious....the Mushi PS2 stick...you say it's a supergun as well? cam you show more pictures?
That case is a pretty tight fit, wondering how you fit all the components in there....

Thanks.
The Mushi one was for the ps2 before, today it's a supergun only. The wip is still in progress, but I have one picture :

I'm trying to put the power supply in the case, but as you say it's really tight fit. All other components (cables, connectors, printed circuit for sound) fit very well in the case.

My sticks so far:

I love Yoko from Gurren Lagann so much that I done all I could including replacing the Xbox symbol in the guide button:

HRAP EX Mushihimesama Futari stick that I just recently acquired from Vyxx:

Got a plexi-glass for it as well as changed it out for Seimitsu buttons from the EX-SE, it's too bad the spring is pretty loose on the LS-32, I've been spoiled by the LS-56!!!

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
amazing work on some of these sticks
i just converted the shell of a madcatz stick i picked up really cheap, it had already been stripped down but there was a lot of glue left on the CP. I cleaned it up and laminated some raiden artwork to put on the front. Fitted a suzo 500 stick. Its for my jamma test rig so I used the guts of a tired megadrive power stick. the megadrive stick had 3 buttons plus start, a slider for autofire speed and toggle buttons with LEDs for the autofire on each switch. I stuck an LED in button 1 toggle which you can see in the photo but couldn't be bothered with the other two as its only button 1 I need autofire on. the speed slider is on the back. im pretty chuffed with it, not made me any better but at least now i cant blame the stick

pales in comparison to some of the pro work here but im pretty chuffed with it for a 1st attempt

Wow, you actually made the SUZO 500 look OK with the original ball-shaft. Kudos.

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
As always these custom sticks you guys are posting are just so damn sweet, I'm finally going to be trying to mod some of my own soon. Here are some of my plans, any introductory advice would be awesome!
Madcatz SE X360 - getting an unpopulated one of these with a snazzy diamond plate face, can be seen here
http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223644
Thinking I'll go with full Sanwa because I already own a HRAP EX-SE. I'd like to stick with capcom colors, thinking yellow balltop and buttons might be the way to go...(?). I'll be doing this mod first because it's basically just screws and plugs to deal with.
Next is doing something about my Mayflash which I use for Mame. The stock stick and buttons are so damn atrocious, can't help but wonder how I managed a Bakraid and Batrider 1CC using the damn thing. Anyway, I'd love to get some real parts in this thing and there seems to be some good videos on YouTube to use as reference... But here's the problem - taking it apart today I discovered that the balltop is totally glued on, it wouldn't budge, even when using a screwdriver from the inside... Should I just saw through the shaft with a metal hand saw??!
DC Agetech - finally got one lf these from a member this past Fall, but the stick "sticks" and the buttons are wobbly... I'm not pleased when using it, maybe my EX-SE has spoiled me or maybe I should just get some real parts in it. Looks like hand files, utility knife, and soldering is required.
[edit] so it turns out the mayflash ball-top doesn't unscrew. I eventually decided to just take the whole stick apart from the inside which was rather fun. Afterwords I watched a tutorial on YouTube and the guy mentions thy is indeed the way to do it. After taking re entire thing apart piece by piece I decided to reassemble it just to familiarize myself with the process, now to see if it still works! LOL
That's all for now, any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I found modding my Agetec stick pretty easy. There's a couple of tutorials on youtube and there's no soldering required either, you do need to do a bit of grinding and drilling.chempop wrote:DC Agetech - finally got one lf these from a member this past Fall, but the stick "sticks" and the buttons are wobbly... I was un-impressed with my full Sanwa mod so I ended up pulling the guts out and slapping them inside my EX-SE.

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
I actually did manage to unscrew the Mayflash balltop, but it took an inordinate amount of effort and I pretty much destroyed the shaft to do it (after stripping the screwdriver head I ended up using pliers to keep the shaft steady and left some pretty deep scrapes in it). Funny enough, I never did anything else with the Mayflash case afterward - the LS-32/PS-14 parts I bought for it ended up being dropped into a MadCatz SE instead, the whole process taking less time than removing that balltop.
Out of curiosity, why don't you use the MadCatz or EX-SE with MAME?

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!
I started destroying a screw driver trying to unscrew the mayflash and gave up after a while. My outdated MacMame setup is on a first gen G5 iMac which basically only gets used to watch movies and play Mame on (in Tate!). That computer isn't online and it didn't recognize the EX-SE. I have a much newer iMac that has MameOsX, but no shmups really properly and I am not about to Tate it (plus it's not located in the gaming room).
Sadly the deal for the Madcatz fell through so it's looking like the Agetec or Mayflash will be my first experience modding.

This was a spare left over case from my MKII cases (hence the screws - as opposed to the now standard screw-less design on my MKIII's).
Artwork is based on the awesome Progear! Seimitsu KN14 buttons with Seimitsu LS-32 stick. Rear buttons Sanwa OBSF-24's. Solid hard maple case, 3mm steel top panel, 3mm top plexi glass panel, 6mm leatherette underside panel. Datel/Paewang PCB for PS3/360/PC compatibility, hope y'all likey!!!

Now, for anybody trying to download that artwork, Photobucket appears to have compressed it to some retarded size. If y'all really want it, PM me. Ciao.
