Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
I know many gamers, but none buy 3ds titles. I've always thought Nintendo pulled a magic trick with the whole handheld success story. Is the UK just not handheld friendly compared to the US and Asia?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I can't see the Switch as a handheld at all, it's really a home device made transportable.
Now if they made a smaller version with more battery... oops that would be a Vita.

Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
Any time. I haven't seen anyone sporting a Nintendo gameboy around my parts for over a decade. Never even heard of anyone been excited to own one. Lots of N64's, Gamecubes, Wii's.. I've seen one Wii U in my friends living room.GaijinPunch wrote:Which time?neorichieb1971 wrote:I've always thought Nintendo pulled a magic trick with the whole handheld success story.

I... I've carried my DS around in my pocket. It's very convenient for flights. Especially with the clamshell design protecting the screens AND automatic standby mode when you flip it shut!Skykid wrote:all that stuff about not being able to fit it in your pocket is bull anyway - who ever actually carries their handhelds about in their pocket. I put every handheld I ever owned in a case and stowed it in a bag when moving around.
I could never imagine lugging that switch and all its parts with me on a commute. It's just so big and awkward looking, not to mention fragile.

I really like the size. Reminds me of the substantial and weighty hardware of yesteryear; like a Lynx, Game Gear or GameBoy but with major screen real estate. It's basically a home console on the go so it's never going to fit in your pockets unless you're a plus, plus, plus size - but hold it in your hands on the train? No problem.

We diagnosed this problem pages back. The 3ds is an RPG machine. You guys only buy foosball games and nothing else.neorichieb1971 wrote:I know many gamers, but none buy 3ds titles. Get Football Manager Ultimate Edition on this thing and it'll be a different story.

Man, the one and only reason (for most people) is what exactly games platform has. So wait and see whether Switch will have games in which u r interested.atheistgod1999 wrote:How's this any better than an NVIDIA Shield?

I think you might be full of it, sir. I saw your ass talking about Fist of the North Star.

Just another damn weeaboo guy.

this is the most weeaboo thing I've ever seen in my life.

Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
Shmups are not visual novels yet
(if you don't count dialogues in some of them). Or neptunia wtf rpgs.
p.s.
Now there is a question, would be there ANY shmup for Nintendo Switch

I watched a lot more anime and read a lot more manga than that when I was in my teens, but never did and still don't qualify as a weeaboo. You should double check the general definition for the slur before making a blanket assumption that all people who read manga or play games fall into a category that was coined to illustrate a specific kind of die hard/shut-in with social disorders.

Seems a bit doubtful. Weirdly Cave ported a bunch to phones and PC, but that's all old stuff we've already played into the ground. Now there is a question, would be there ANY shmup for Nintendo Switch![]()
Outside of indies, I'm ready to say the genre's dead.
You might not be able to see this, but you're trying to prove your social value (to who? God?) by arguing with an anonymous person on the internet about how you're better than other nerds because <reasons>but never did and still don't qualify as a weeaboo.... slur ... social disorder
I'm sorry you have such a serious self-loathing personality disorder, Skykid : (
Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
I haven't got a "self-loathing personality disorder" - I have plenty of self-respect. I take exception to someone who considers a gamer or hobbyist or forum poster to fall under a derogatory term with fairly explicit connotations. Video gaming and manga reading were around long before the weeaboo made their bed and danced around on it singing anime intros: I'm simply saying you shouldn't label everyone in the same way you wouldn't want them to label you.BryanM wrote:You might not be able to see this, but you're trying to prove your social value (to who? Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
I'm not too thrilled with the official name of Switch. How do they expect to hold up against PS4/Pro and Xbox One/Project Scorpio with a Tegra system?
I can't help but feel that Nintendo will join Sega in the console market someday, becoming a content provider rather than a console maker. I am really out.

Kinect? KIN NOT.
Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
By not being focused on graphics? This is Nintendo, that's been their strategy for an extremely long time. They don't go for cutting edge tech because they don't need to; the console is a vehicle for fun games.gameoverDude wrote:How do they expect to hold up against PS4/Pro and Xbox One/Project Scorpio with a Tegra system?

Luckily for us, the best indie shmups of the last gen are already better than most arcade shmups of the last two gens (and most shmups, honestly, because quantitatively speaking there is so much garbage).BryanM wrote: Outside of indies, I'm ready to say the genre's dead.
RefRain, Blue Revolver, and Mecha Ritz are a million times better than stuff like Trigger Heart Exelica, XIIZEAL, or Chaos Field.

Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
Point taken. It's kind of like SNK and the Neo-Geo. Remember how they planned a 32-bit Neo Star system at one time, but actually decided to scrap it and stand by the Neo- and still, some amazing games came out for that. Fatal Fury 3 would have been a Neo Star release, but instead showed up as a Neo-Geo MVS/AES title. Still, it looked and played decent.trap15 wrote:By not being focused on graphics? As for Dreamcast failing so quick, I guess that's due to grave errors on Sega's part.
NX was not actually too bad of a name; I was actually starting to like it far better than Switch.
Cave's PC games may be "old stuff" but of a good kind. Their releases preserve a worthy game and also offer it at a decent price. Together, a retail copy of 360 Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu and one of 360 DDPDFK Black Label will cost more than the "all of the above" Resurrection release on Steam.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
When Nintendo do something right, they most definitely do it right. When they do it wrong, you get the signs early.
I'm not seeing anything technically that will make the Switch fail. Right now its all about the software, how much 3rd party software and how many Goldeneyes, Mario 64's and Waveraces they can pull out of the bag this generation.
Nintendo should seal a deal with the Yooka laylee team - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rStKYUD_3GQ
Since they are ex Rare employees, it seems to me they should go old school and get the old guard back. I can't see it doing any harm.

Re: Looking forward to "NX"?
I see two points here. People who are sort of "against" this thing asking what it's selling point is and people who are "for" it saying it's the games.
Yes, Nintendo is consolidating their development from two platforms to just once and that will result in more first party titles, but is just that enough to make this a success?

Man, you seem particularly desperate for this to fail. I know you're a Sony guy, but give the thing a chance.ZellSF wrote: Yes, Nintendo is consolidating their development from two platforms to just once and that will result in more first party titles, but is just that enough to make this a success?

What? Its 'selling point' is pretty clear - more so than the type of games it will host. It's about convenience and take away gaming and not being tied to the console under your TV in your bedroom. Like the video demonstrates, you can take the dog for his run around the park without having to suspend your Skyrim session for two hours.I see two points here. People who are sort of "against" this thing asking what it's selling point is and people who are "for" it saying it's the games.
At the moment the dynamic aspect of the hardware is the only thing that's really been touted at all. Nobody knows jack shit about the games except that it will have first party Nintendo titles on there and all that Amiibo shit.
