Most of those people who left 4chan /v/ for 8chan /v/ when Gamergate threads started to be removed from /v/ weren't really part of the clique. Most of them were "refugees" from reddit who wouldn't have been on 4chan prior to gamergate. Most of the people who were around on 4chan as an anime imageboard didn't move an inch.

Nah, I'm afraid I'm going to need some proof for this because my experience has been just the opposite. 8ch's /v/ at least has a ton of older users who have been around for a while. The people reluctant to leave 4chan were in fact the naive newer ones who are afraid of stepping a foot outside onto a slower chan.

As a lifelong gamer, we have always been under attack. And I mean ALWAYS. And if you're old enough, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

And here I am, just watching some stuff on Rifftrax, and they're still making it like GG is a woman hate mob. It's depressing.
I tried to have a conversation on their forum, about it, and it's like they're holding up a cross to a vampire. And I didn't say I was into GG. I just said I was tired of far left social politics being pushed constantly. Just tried to start a discussion.
I mean, we are fucking demonized (GG in particular), but gamers (in general) have their problems. Well, "core" gamers. If you're one of those feminist indi gamers, then you're good to go.

It's so dismaying. I need a recharge or something.

Same sex people didn't like for 2 reasons

1: You can only have the gay option with certain characters that actually are gay.

2: IIRC Both gay characters are sadomasochistic "yanderes" or something

Yeah. I mean, the gameplay is supposed to be really good, some of the best in the series. The story and characters are also supposed to be really well handled despite a few previously mentioned issues. I was a little miffed at first at the idea of anime tropes and dating sim stuff screwing with the tone of an otherwise cool concept, but it's hard to care when the end result turns out so good.

I don't really see any reason to get depressed about it though. I just stopped reading the thread lol.

Incest is practically a tradition in Fire Emblem. These people complaining are going to buy the game anyway, they just like to complain. Just like all of the outraged people who swear that they are done watching Game of Thrones while contributing to the growing audience.

The only time these outraged SJWs have any impact is when they are writing bad reviews and dragging down the metacritic rating which can impact the money the developers get from the publishers and might scare publishers into forcing more contrived nonsense into their products.

I think the real crime of Gamergate's failure was a microcosm of the larger malaise in our culture. The media elite of the gaming world successfully distracted public attention away from their own corruption by using their position to demonize their critics.

It's really the same old, same old. People want to leech off you to suit your purposes, and just as might is one way, "justified outrage" is another. Both things have their place, of course, but nobody should ever be confused about the fact this is a story of them vs. you. It's kind of funny to think how big games is. Perhaps it's bigger than Marxism in the Democratic countries was, in terms of people and attention. Oh I hate that shit so much. Hipster indie devs make some lazy game project and are allowed to call it an "art game" because it has a tryhard vague story or something to that effect. It has been proven to work as well, just look at how much attention Braid got from the gaming press.

They are trying to use "art game" as a term to separate their "work" above other games to avoid criticism, instead of just acknowledging that gameplay in itself is art.
