You know...this game might actually show up way later, on PS4. But right now, it's dead.

At this point, jumping ship to the ps4 is very logical for Moss to do. This is of course if they weren't being funded by MS themselves. Though I really do wonder if MS is still funding this project.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
They need to be funding the One's funeral service.

How long does it take a tram like Moss to develop a raiden game? It's not like it's got crazy bullet patterns or a super complex scoring system to integrate.

Unless of course there will be a radical change in gameplay or the graphics will be getting a massive next gen overhaulStrikers1945guy wrote:How long does it take a tram like Moss to develop a raiden game? It's not like it's got crazy bullet patterns or a super complex scoring system to integrate.

I suppose but it's Raiden the graphics don't need a huge overhaul and that's all money and time wasted on a game that more than likely will sell pretty poorly, so I doubt that's the reason.Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Unless of course there will be a radical change in gameplay or the graphics will be getting a massive next gen overhaulStrikers1945guy wrote:How long does it take a tram like Moss to develop a raiden game? Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I do recall several of the articles from last year that mentioned Raiden V hinting at a change from traditions. Also, regarding the graphics, it would only make sense to keep pushing the limits forward. From Raiden III to IV there was a noticeable graphical improvement, and I can only imagine what the Xbox One hardware will be capable of making a Raiden game look like. But for now, communication has gone dead. I have messaged MOSS on Twitter and on their Facebook page, but no replies. Believe me, if I was a millionaire I would've already bought the rights to Raiden from MOSS (considering that something something terrible has happened to them financially) and gotten this game back on track with the help of developers who would know what to do with the game, not ruin it. If I had that kind of money I would invest whatever is necessary to see that game become a reality. Sadly, we are all powerless here and we can do nothing but wait.Strikers1945guy wrote:I suppose but it's Raiden the graphics don't need a huge overhaul and that's all money and time wasted on a game that more than likely will sell pretty poorly, so I doubt that's the reason.Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Unless of course there will be a radical change in gameplay or the graphics will be getting a massive next gen overhaulStrikers1945guy wrote:How long does it take a tram like Moss to develop a raiden game? Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
It's weird seeing people post they are desperate for this to be a PS4 project. It was only last gen that Sony wouldn't allow and traditional 2D style games or shmups on the PS3 for the first five years of the system and now they are suddenly the saviours of the genre and indies. Bit fickle.
If it wasn't for what happened with XBLA last gen the genre probably would be dead on consoles if it was up to Sony.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
People are desperate for shmups to come to any console at this point. I doubt it has anything to do with preferring Sony over MSoft. More like "if it's not going to make it to Xbox One, then put it out somewhere"...and PS4 is the logical choice aside to PC.Astro City II wrote:It's weird seeing people post they are desperate for this to be a PS4 project. Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
So is the consensus is that this game is dead? If not, when is the next game show where Raiden might come up?
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Never say never. But it is looking like if it was ever to happen, then it is most likely going to be delayed for a long time.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I wonder if there's any way they can get Raiden Fighters and OG raiden on steam. Bit of a thread derail, but if Moss needs money they have some back catalogue they can use. I'm sure there are smaller companies willing to do the work for that stuff.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Everyone simply realizes that the game is almost certainly dead on the Xbone, and PS4 or PC will be our only real hope of a release. The Xbox is a total and complete failure here in Japan. There are almost no games on the system, and no floor space dedicated to it. You can't even really find used systems, because no one bought them in the first place. I'll take a depressing picture of the Xbox One section of the gamestore next time I out.Astro City II wrote:It's weird seeing people post they are desperate for this to be a PS4 project. Considering this is a Japanese game that primarily targets a specific niche of Japanese gamers it makes no sense to release it on a system that failed so hard it's already essentially a rare console here. Shmup players supporting the 360 does not mean they all went out and bought Xbones, or would even prefer it to the PS4. They were simply going where the games were. I have friends here who are hardcore fans of Western games and even they won't touch the thing with a pole, because everyone can see the flies buzzing around its rotting corpse. No one wants to throw down $250 on a system that has no future and basically no exclusives.
It's not a question of loyalty, it's about practicality. Sony may have been asshats in the past, but it doesn't change the fact that they are still the best bet for any sort of console shmup success in 2015.
WiiU shmups anyone?

I guess I'm gonna give up hope. At least the series retains it's symmetry this way.

Actually no it doesn't, Raiden V would be the sixth game, since DX is the third game. If we don't hear anything before the end of the year, then things could have certainly taken a turn for the worst.8BA wrote:I guess I'm gonna give up hope. At least the series retains it's symmetry this way.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
sorry, even raiden iv has more differences from iii than raiden dx does from ii
it's even called "raiden ii dx" right on the pcb
(the real raiden iii is viper phase 1)

It's time... https://twitter.com/moss_raiden/status/ ... 2476392448
Info coming next month, according to MOSS, and their reply to a user asking about Raiden V. They say that they are working hard on the game, which is excellent news!

After a month of silence that feed became active to announce that Raiden IV Overkill is now available on PlayStation Now "for Rent" (350¥(4h), 700¥(7d), 1000¥(30d), 2100¥(90d)).
The final tweet could simply be interpreted as a polite "please stop asking us here about Raiden V".

DAMN at these rent prices. Why not just port the PC version of RIV-OK to PS4? I'd rather pay $15-20 for all you can play with no PSNow latency, rather than "rent".HydrogLox wrote:After a month of silence that feed became active to announce that Raiden IV Overkill is now available on PlayStation Now "for Rent" (350¥(4h), 700¥(7d), 1000¥(30d), 2100¥(90d)).

Because porting would take effort, and in theory this obnoxious rental program makes Sony more money than selling a "permanent" one time license.gameoverDude wrote:

This is sounding positive so far. Not sure what other people are reading between the lines. If any company states they're working hard on a game then I think they're working on it.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Actually, I do not. I only have a PS3 and 360. But I would be willing to buy the game and go to a friend's house to play it.Strider77 wrote:Does Furry have an Xbone?

You dodged that bullet... I don't think you'll be having to go to any friends house. That owns a xbone anyway.
