More time left = more rank? I thought that was pretty obvious since time is the only variable that changes. (dying and 1ups change change the timer)

But do you know what's the thresholds to stay on Normal, say, or how the end time bonus is calculated? Other than strictly mimicking the current top replay (which has it relatively easy), I can't figure out what's the optimal suicide route for rank control :|

Query: Yes Asia seems to have this game for cheaper than anywhere I can find it. They claim it only works on Japanese consoles. This is because they are wrong, yes?

Also, anyone know of a batter place to get it. Oh, and just for the heck of it, if I liked Judgement Silversword, will I like this?

I bought mine from yesasia and it works on my US X360. So... no there isn't a better place to get it ;) Their shipping can take longer, but you have less chance of having to pay custom duties.

Eschatos Is now up on the JPN marketplace for 1760msp.

http://marketplace.xbox.com/ja-JP/Produ ... ?cid=SLink

I can confirm that Eschatos *IS* ip-locked. :(
Tried to purchase using my JPN account with JPN microsoft points & the transaction would not go through.

It's also available on the Asian Marketplace for the cheaper price of 1680 MSP. Still IP locked.

Not sure if anyone knows if it's region free, but here's a guide to get you started:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 91#p766891

Note: this method requires a laptop (with a network socket) that is wirelessly connected to a wireless router.

Anybody know what the patch today was about? I don't remember the marketplace being on the Eschatos menu but then again I never looked for it.

I'm also wondering what the patch was for. But I was playing JSS and not Eschatos today.

I do think it's too bad that there are only replays for Eschatos in this release since it'd be very nice to have replays for all 3 games, but there's nothing that can be done about that.

When the game's website announced it was releasing on GoD, it seemed to say something about new content (pardon the Google Translate):
Content will be delivered this spring "arrangement BGM pack" added!
Details will be published in the near future. Please look forward to!
So I guess more music is on the way?

The arrange BGM was released today for 560 MSP. The patch might just be there to facilitate the use of a separate soundtrack? Though you'd think that could just come with the DLC download.

They've also adjusted the vertical height of JSS.

Hah, their website must have updated right after my post because there's now an actual announcement. They've also uploaded a sample to youtube.

If I'm to understand things correctly, even though the game is region free I can only download the DLC from the Japanese marketplace using a Japanese Xbox Live account using Japanese points? This might be the DLC to finally make me get off my ass and set that up. I love this game and the music was a big part of that.

DUDES THEY ADDED TATE!!!!!!!!!

And yes, full vertical stretching for yoko. There used to be slight vertical letterboxing no matter what.

BUT TATE!

So are both JSS and Cardinal Sins playable in Tate now, without paid DLC? If so, that's grand. They're amazing.

Correct! And it is indeed très grand, check out the size of them pixels.

Also, and I say this without thinking it's a 'big' deal in any way, if you're crazy enough to tate an HDTV it's still doubly letterboxed. Still plenty huge though.

Yep, but doesn't matter much anymore since they added it now which is great.

I know you have a JTAG xbox or something but you should be able to download the patch eventually when someone puts it up, and patches being annoying sometimes for hacked xboxes isn't something the devs should care about at all when adding extra features

Well for what it's worth, even though I have a Jtag, I do own a copy of Eschatos, and a lot of other imports also. I'm happy that people will be able to enjoy JSS tate, but I don't think I'll get to.

I thought that they added it to the version that you can download from XBLA. That doesn't mean that there's a patch for the disc version to add tate. And even if there was, it's harder to find that stuff since MegaUpload was taken down.

That's exactly what it is. A patch for Eschatos that adds support for the custom soundtrack DLC and gives additional screen options for JSS and Cardinal Sins.

ahh. that's what I get for quickly skimming through. I saw that it was released on the Japan marketplace, then I saw another post about the tate option. I thought that the tate was just added to the downloadable game.

So it is a patch... That's great news! I still doubt I'll be able to find a download online though.

For what it's worth, there's supposed to be a "Wonder Price" version ($40) coming out in June, which Qute have already confirmed to once again be region free. I suppose there is some hope that the latest patch could be included on-disc.

Definitely nice to see Qute finally update the game with Tate for CS and JSS. Honestly didn't expect much support from them on the title after hearing they apparently sold a pretty paltry number of copies.

I think it's just a cheaper re-release. Online retailers are calling it "Eschatos [Wonder Price Version]" so I'm expecting the full game, but no soundtrack CD.
