I do look like I could be doing either of those. Basically I collect pictures of me, and now friends, stood next to 'dobbers'. Originally a dobber is the kind of simple cock drawing you do on a schoolbook when you're about 12, but it now really applies to ones on walls. Essentially a scrawled graffiti penises.

It started with my own collection, and then friends loved it and started sending me them. I have an international collection.

In that avatar pic, my wife was taking a picture of me next to a dobber, and a family with about 6 young kids were strolling past. I was a little embarrased, by the situation and kind of recoiling from the sight of the dobber as if I wasn't anything to do with it - thus the weird pose!

when I get some money I plan to be down at least once a week, Spadgy introduced me to Progear and I think I'm hooked (got quite a studio ghiblhi look going on).

I'm going to try and get some of my classmates on the games studies course down too, see if they can handle some old school gaming

Heh, wait until you see stage 5... Progear is Laputa with less plot and more explosions. :)

Yup, friday evenings are still the ones for most heads coming down, but mostly at the Troc nowadays.
I'll be down, starting at Goodge then moving to Troc/Chinatown.

Sadly I can't make Friday.

I've been a few times in recent weeks and seen none of your pretty faces. Me and Skykid popped in last night to an empty arcade, and both did pretty awful on Progear.

Also, we stopped by Las Vegas arcade as I'd been raving about Raiden Double Play all day (me and Skykid were at a work event together fondling Lara Croft). I didn't do extraordinarily well (with Raiden Double Play!), but got a reasonable score of about 4.1 million at level 3, which should have easily put me on the cabs table. However, somebody in London has been destroying Double Play, and that table has some staggeringly high scores. Who the hell is CML? 8million+! Amazing!

EDIT: Oh yeah - Skykid - how's your CPS2 box? I await a condition score from 1 to 10 anxiously!

I was down Troc on friday the week before as I [attempt to] play GGXXAC now, but nothing really happened until late. I'll probably be down Casino at ~6pm and go to the Troc a bit later. It'd be cool to catch some people, Casino is usually me being savaged by moths alone .

It's still a bit of a mission for me, but the last train is at 11:50 so I can make it worthwhile.

The Progear cab is infested with those overenthusiastic little gits! Not needed at the final boss!

Definately! If we do Progear next week there should be some kind of Moth Hazard score adjustment if you do it down Casino.

Right - I'm going along tomorrow (Friday), and I have the whole evening free, so, anybody about?

I was there for about a hour last Friday which was lame, and me and Taylor sadly had the place to ourselves.

DEL and co - where are you lot this Friday?

Mr_monks? Anybody else?

RupertH - you at CEX Friday?

Taylor - I'll gladly show you where Game Focus is, and if we make it by 7.30pm we can actually go in an have a rifle through the import stuff...

Yeah, I should be about tomorrow. I'll be down after work so ~6:00pm.

I actually went down to Game Focus on the Saturday, but couldn't see a copy of Ibara there :)

Yeah, KAC & I had moved on to the Troc to meet Inti and the Crew.

I'm away in Brussels from today.

Have they upped it to 7.30pm close? It used to be 7pm.

Shame DEL - but enjoy your trip.

I seem to manage to loiter until 7.30pm, though they are usually pulling down the shutters and turning off the tills when I leave. Perhaps I've just been privvy to a little 'lock-in'.

So, don't plan a trip to GF based on my knowledge of their opening times.

But do all come down to Casino on Friday. I have to nip to Orbital Comics first, so I'll be there by 6.30 or maybe 6.45...

Not working this Friday as I'm going to Video Games Live. A Game Focus visit is well advised over the next few days though as they've just put a huge amount of import stuff after their re-jig. I'm not sure I like the way they hoard stuff in there for months and put it out all at the same time, forcing me to have to make tough decisions. :?

Rupert - we must organise that drink and chat about taking over the world with those warp-capable space fighter craft we built.

You aren't at MCM Expo over the weekend are you?

Or anybody else for that matter?

I am indeed. I think I've become some kind of Street Fighter IV groupie. I follow it on tour and attempt to gain back-stage access to its trailer so I can fellate it.

Eh, I probably won't be down tonight after all. Don't feel too great!

However, you can pretend I went down there and played Progear with this failfest. It's also the reason my keyboard is now broken. I don't know why I bother.

Ah - I came off my bike today and put a tooth through my cheek - still, I'm going to head over (not on my cocking bike!) for about 6.30pm.

Hopefully it won't be too busy. Also going to nip down to Las Vegas to try Raiden III double play...

Good night on Friday, was a bit busier than the last few times I've been in, mostly fighters until a button broke on SFII aniversary. Shame Will was having such a bad night on Progear but to be fair he was sitting there with a hole through his face from his bike accident!

I got to level 3 on my first run but couldn't repeat that feat for the rest of the night ( i tend to find my first run is the best in the arcades) not bad for only my second pound in the cab

on a side note I managed to get me a Dreamcast arcade stick from Game Focus so I was a happy little bunny

Yes, we blew. I'm actually much better on the JP version at home, weirdly.
EDIT: Oh yeah - Skykid - how's your CPS2 box? I await a condition score from 1 to 10 anxiously!
Near mint dude, I'd say an 8.5 is fair. My nefarious plot is nearly complete, and I am arranging the final preparations as we speak.

Rupe, I hear the games live show was great - Andrew said they pulled out some mint Castlevania stuff at the end.

Did anyone visit the Eurogamer expo?
I had to say that visually, Killzone 2 was really impressive. But when I sat down with it, it still has the same annoyances in play as the first. The enemies soak up bullets like nobody's business (a head shot means you die damnit!) and the PS3 analog sticks are appalling! They really detract from the experience cos it's all "flick it a touch this way, right on his cranium - oops no, too far, back again. Tap it, tap it - fuck, I'm getting shot to pieces!"

Obviously this gets easier with practice (and hopefully, the option to calibrate) but they still suck.

Mirrors Edge looked rubbish too.

Street Fighter IV grows on me more each time. Gouken in the home port is mint.

Resi 5 was too much. I can't wait for this game. The playable demo was awesome fun (more to play than to watch though.) The menu system is neat.

Anyway, I'm talking to myself here...

A Christmas Shmup meet will be happening at my place in Brighton. Due to the nature of my gaff, it's invite only. More details as they come up, I'll contact people first to find out if they're available. If no one can make it, I'll just have Spadgy and Rupert around for shepherds pie and a spot of Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou.

Equipment so far is one Egret 2, one Supergun, one mini CRT, one projector for the PS2, and more shmups than you can shake a stick at.
I might actually try to hook up bishi bashi on the projector for some four player frolics to break up the shmupping too.

Might try to arrange another gun and TV so we can have at least three systems running at once.

Donations for electricity welcome.

I'll bring my supergun...

And I'll do the washing up once the pie's done. Used to be a kitchen porter - strangely, I had an amazing time doing that job.

I'm at the Golden Joystick Awards today, but after all is done I'm up for popping into Casino - it's a rare chance to see me in a suit.
