Did you even watch E3? PS3 is no different to the 360, potentially weaker as they don't even have the marketplace outlet for simpler or more obscure stuff.
Yeah, really. It's all Metal Gear Solid and shit at this point. I doubt all 120 (!) of those PS2 games are revolutionary either...
There's a lot more coming for PS3 that wasn't shown. DMC4 is one thing I am looking forward to. By the time the system comes out we'll be seeing some really cool playable demos of games. It just takes a while because they only recently got their final dev kits.

Same thing happened with the 360.

On a side note, I just played the demo of Lost Planet like an hour ago and, yeah, it's pretty damn awesome. And I was only playing on a standard TV.

Didn't like that one to begin with - but it grew on me when I gave it a second chance. And I think the whole high def thing is a pointless storm in a teacup.

I thought I heard that a Treasure shmup and a Cave shmup were being made for or realesed on 360.If this is true what else do you need to know? :)

Ugh... I don't think the 360 controller is all that good for shooting games.

It would make sense for them to release the shooting games on the PS3, though, since they have for PS1 and 2. And the pad is the same.

I disagree every downloaded PC shmup I've ever had on my computer I played with a 360 replica controller that includes all the ABA games as well as
a few Shin Shigami Alice games demos for many shmups the bullet dodgeing sims and Mars Matrix Dodonpachi and Ghost pilots, and I could'nt be happier with the controller.(It's like a DC controller with easier reach)

The first big test will be Scramble, closest thing it'll have to a normal shmup when it hits. I think you might well be right though, as the D-pad is harder to use than it needs to be with DOA4.

I don't think the PS2 pad is that great for shooters either, since getting one of the PS2 Saturn style ones. Actually got a pair of the Darkstalkers coloured ones and a copy of that game at the same time :)

it pains me to say it, but the 360 pad is really great, save for the 2nd face buttons which are too small. it really feels good to hold it and the analogs are well made.
havent tried the D-pad much tho, but as long as it does what you want it to do (HELLO XBOX D-pad) or that it doesnt ruin your thumbs (HELLO dreamcast pad) it should be okay.

When I think about shooters, comparing the 360's controller to the PS2's controller isn't even a comparison.

Yes, Saturn controllers are probably the best pads for shooters, but I would always choose a PS2 controller over an xbox S controller or 360. Speaking of the S controller, playing 2D games with the S controller's dpad is terrible.

I don't really care for the button placement so long as the dpad is good, and playing shooting games with an analog stick sounds so profound.

While I've never used it, Mad Catz 360 controller looks like it has a very solid D-Pad. And its gotten good reviews... soo...

For Senko no Ronde, I will be buying one of those.

I will confirm that the 1st party d-pad sucks. Mega Man Anniversary Collection and Sonic Mega Collection+ were both virtually unplayable with the 1st party 360 controller IMO.

Remember though, there is already a Hori arcade stick available for the Xbox 360.

I would still take a PS2 pad over that, any day. Arcade sticks aren't for everyone (and people who have more experience with pads will have more accuracy with them)

I know a guy who kicks ass with a keyboard. He would have like all consoles to come with keyboards, not pads.

The point is, everyone has their preferences, and if you don't like one controller or arcade stick just get the one you like it and plug it in. It's not like they cost a fortune.

Treasure Project?
Here's an old list of 360 titles, including one from Treasure.
Does anyone have any other info on this?

D-pad
I've used the D-pad playing DOA on my friend's machine, and found it a little clunky. Hitting diagonals precisely is difficult.

I love my 360, and I have to say that the game lineup this early in its lifespan is the best since the Dreamcast. The PS3, on the other hand, has yet to show me anything of interest (I don't enjoy the Metal Gear series). Still, I will pre-order a PS3, because I assume something good will come along (and because it's a new console, so I can't resist :)).

Anyone remember the PS2 launch? I just don't understand how people can slam the 360 in one breath and say they are ready to order a PS3 in the next (unless they want a cheap Blu-Ray player ;)).

Indeed.
I own one and it works great. You can even use it on your Mac/PC for SNESx with some freeware drivers. The buttons and stick feel much better than the ones on the DC Agetec.

Probably because the PS3 has more than the token support that the 360 carries (which is also getting progressively getting worse thanks to Microsofts inability to get suitable games released in Japan).

Its feels like PS2 vs Xbox again and Microsoft have learnt nothing but how to amass a group of games that are lessons in PR, They simply can't complete with the variety as they alienate smaller developers.

Listening to that E3 conference was almost like them condeming anything thats not classed as an immediate system seller as totally worthless or in the past.

I don't know where you get your information from, but you manage to get basic facts horribly horribly wrong. The only way I can rationalize this is if there is a videogame equivalent of The Onion and you are reading it.

It seems pointless for me to try and show you how wrong your post is, because you'll likely counter with more made-up facts. It's depressing me, kinda.

What E3 were you checking out?
Because at the one I was watching, Infafune, Itagaki, and Sakaguchi all seemed to have very nice things to say about the 360.

And I don't understand how Microsoft is "condemning the past", if anything, Microsoft is throwing the past back into the spotlight with Xbox Live Arcade. :?

And MS is alienating small developers? Yes, that makes total sense. Thats why Treasure is working on a 360 title. Thats why G.Rev is bringing out Senko no Ronde shortly.

Worthless conjecture no foundation.

Of course they are going to say good things, It wouldn't be in their interests to state the problems when their software houses are getting free royalties and licensing.

Xbox live arcade is nothing but a payday for large developers and a couple of American based indies who have stolen ideas (Zuma).

If they had any interest in expanding genres then where are the retail games? Oh no sorry there won't be any as they aren't valuable enough to Microsoft.
