Hello all:
I consider blazing stars to be a good introduction to manic shmups: wide selection of ships, gentle learning curve, good coverage for basic shmup skills: bullet herding, scratching tight gaps, scoring, memorization, etc. On top of that, it has high entertainment values, especially with its Jap-English and what not...
Too bad they don't port it here...
Cheers.

P.S. > It's a pretty good game. The only reason I have some reservations about it is that it does require memorization. I am not too fond about that, since it results in some cheap deaths.
Blazing Star...why are you so evil?

Well, thanks to all the hints and tips so far, I've managed to 1cc up to level 4 already (under a week!). I also beat the 1 million point mark with a score of 1,061,940! Yay! That's without milking any bosses either, so I'm pretty jazzed. It would have been a LITTLE better but I missed the Y in LUCKY in the 3rd stage
Still, REALLY enjoying this! Thanks for all the help guys!

Hey guys, sorry to revive this but a weird thing happened to me while playing BS tonight. When you kill enough guys you get the little angel wings appearing and when you grab em you get score multipliers for a set time (something like 10 or 15 seconds). Well, one I'd never seen before with a Japanese character on it just appeared on level 2 tonight while I was playing. It was 2X as large as the yellow and orange ones (that give 2X and 4X respectively). It flashed rainbow colors and when I grabbed it, EVERYTHING I killed dropped a powerup icon. In less than a minute I'd grabbed over 50 powerup icons and the difficulty had raised so drastically I got slaughtered heinously and barely made it to the 2nd level boss! But my score was insane, over 500K with no milking. Anyone ever seen that powerup before or have any idea why one gets it?
