I guess nobody is 100% certain what deals Hamster has access to, so potentially anything that's obscure and unported could be fair game. Maybe they can look into getting it in the future.
So I just submitted individual write-in votes for a hitlist of shmup ports that need to happen:
Dangun Feveron
Armed Police Batrider
Battle Bakraid
Raiden Fighters
Raiden Fighters 2
Raiden Fighters Jet
Viper Phase One
19XX War Against Destiny
Tatsujin 2 (Tatsujin Oh)
G-Stream
Then I voted for Xexex from the checkboxes.
I also threw in a few more likely, old coin-op titles that would be cool and might be cheap for them to aquire rights to:
Xain'd Sleena
Robocop
Heavy Barrel
Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja
Dragon Breed
If you want these too, vote for them.
(solicited online feedback like this does produce results sometimes, as those of us who voted on Sega's site for them to make a Shadow The Hedgehog spin-off game a few years ago can attest.)

I know its available for other consoles but I don't really want to make an effort at all in hunting it down or going to ebay and so forth. If I am able to get it for the PS2 I will be happy if not... oh well.Ganelon wrote:Err, Fighters History was already on the SNES and FHD on the NGCD and SS (great ports). Seems like a waste to vote for them IMO. But hey, it's your vote.
Its easy to say I should be owning them on such and such platforms. When the games first came out, I had no means nor the cash to import them but now that I do it isn't really worth the effort. I wouldn't really call myself a true fan as I won't go out of my way to get it. If I can I will, if not then I am not going to lose sleep over it.Seven Force wrote:Yeah, I was thinking that too. If you love these games, you should be owning them already. The Saturn version will be a better port anyway, not to mention the Neo Geo originals.
At the end of the day I rather have all my games on one platform and right now that would be the JPS2 since I pretty much only purchase 2d fighters, classic compilations and shmups for it.

Thunder Force, maybe you already know it, but..
Xain'd Sleena was ported to several home computer systems, under the name of "Soldier of Light". (I know versions for the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Spectrum, MSX and Amiga)
Of course, most ports probably are eons away from the arcade game anyway
. I've only played the MSX version and it truly sucks.
Thought I think the Arcade version is rather crap too..
Well, here are screenshots and info of the Amiga version, if you're interested

That port looks pretty bad... The arcade version is a sweet game though, it did almost everything Turrican 2 did, 5 years earlier. The planets are well designed (for an oldschool game), and the hori shmup stages while travelling between planets are a blast...Shatterhand wrote:Thunder Force, maybe you already know it, but..

It's interesting that Turrican is mentioned, as I usually hear that Psycho-Niks Oscar was a source of inspiration. Regardless, Xain'd was way ahead of its time (it had a spaceship shooter mode too, just like a number of Rainbow Arts games) with the double jump, crouched, and prone positions, and options like the concurrent grenade firing attachment. Plus, it was at least a year earlier than Psycho-Niks, fun.

I don't have any of the Oretachi releases, but my understanding from other threads was that they did include tate (where it made sense: Time Pilot, Scramble, Sonic Wings, etc.)

Indeed, Sonic Wings has tate and high-score saving as well. Only thing missing was an autofire button (not much of a problem in that particular title) and the ability to remap the buttons.Zach Keene wrote:I don't have any of the Oretachi releases, but my understanding from other threads was that they did include tate (where it made sense: Time Pilot, Scramble, Sonic Wings, etc.)
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

These are apparently the next two to be released. They aren't yet linked to from the official lineup page, but you can get to them by fiddling with the URL:
Super Dodgeball
Rabio Lepus
Edit: Typo pointed out by Ceph.

The second one is called "Rabio Lepus". Got it for PC Engine. Very difficult shmup featuring a robot rabbit. Anyone know if the PCE port is arcade perfect?Zach Keene wrote:These are apparently the next two to be released. And the game play a bit different than the MAME.
Another new title to pick up.Zach Keene wrote:Rabio Lepus

Xain'd Sleena is a multi-way scroller as is Turrican. Of course Turrican had huger maps...Turrican wrote:Not really, unless your idea of Turrican is a hori-scrolling shooter from left to right - in which case, Contra does it better.Thunder Force wrote:The arcade version is a sweet game though, it did almost everything Turrican 2 did, 5 years earlier.
