ACB won't be stocked for some time, unfortunately. it is going through a re-design rev2 which adds tons of features so it needs time.

I recommend you order PSU now. it is in my website (around 63 units now) and 80 units for SAG.
Looking forward to hearing what you come up with for the rev2 ACB when it is ready.

I did get an order in for the ThunderPSU. Dreamcast remains a most played console, so glad to be able to future-proof it.

It's more a safety thing. Added risk of electric shock if someone touches the PSU (not that you should when it's live), but even more, there is a increase in risk of shorts. I'm guessing you are not assembling these yourself, but even factory assembled boards can sometimes have excess solder blobs on the PCB. The exposed vias could be trouble.

Also, I personally think that tented vias look better :D

Upcoming Saturn PSU will have normal tented vias.

However, you should not worry about these concerns because all of those vias are ground vias with exception of handful vias. shorting them together means nothing as they are actually shorted by ground planes.

from now on i will do tented ones as it looks a bit better, maybe very small amount of vias to be left untented but majority should be ok.

another thing, you can safely touch the PSU as all these connections are actually low voltage. except of course the input connectors which is AC high voltage.

did you buy yours yet?

Right GND vias make a lot more sense. To me it just looked like the different power rails, but GND is at least a lot safer :)

I am tempted to get one. The original PAL transformer can get as hot as 95C on a hot summer day, it's pretty insane. I will probably wait till batch 3 though.

I recommend buying now, still enough quantities to serve. SAG is getting 80 units too.
