The trailer has them all. Some people just prove they know as much about music as they do life.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: Blade Runner 2049
Finally saw the cool Blade Runner 2049 movie trailer before watching the sci-fi flick of Passengers -- like the idea of a new Blade Runner (in Ryan Gosling's appearance) with their ol' trusty hand gun weaponry. A mere 30 years later and you'd think there'd be new weaponry issued for all BRs, right?
Nice touch with the Korean stylized signage (South Korea is a major force to reckoned with in the global economy in this BR universe). Will we see a high-speed chase involving police spinners? (That I'd like see...something to spice up the action scenes and/or some interior shots of the Tyrell Corporation's "skin job" factory up & running.)

It was only Deckard that was holing that gun. Maybe he held onto it all this time for sentimental values.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Finally saw the cool Blade Runner 2049 movie trailer before watching the sci-fi flick of Passengers -- like the idea of a new Blade Runner (in Ryan Gosling's appearance) with their ol' trusty hand gun weaponry. It's all the same to me. The distorted synths are very modern sounding and the trailed ends with a big WUB at the end. The Vangelis theme is only used for nostalgia's sake.Durandal wrote:Seems like you're confusing any distorted synths for dubstepOpus131 wrote:The music made me rage. Of course, since i despise everything modern on an almost visceral level i'm very sensitive to this kinda stuff.

Especially if we are talking Scott, who's particularly inept when it comes to writing. Prometheus wasn't an unfortunate accident. The guy is very good with visuals but bad scripts appears to be the norm with him rather than the exception.Mischief Maker wrote:The writer matters more than the director.
Re: Blade Runner 2049
Scott isn't a writer at all. He briefly had a provisional credit for this thing, but no longer does.
Check his IMDB page. One writing credit: Boy and Bicycle. 1965.

Re: Blade Runner 2049
My only problem with dubstep is the use of "step" in the name, implying it's dance music, when it's impossible to dance to.
I had a DJ friend once who explained to me the difference between techno, house, and dubstep:
Techno is meant to sound like you're in the future.
House is meant to make girls look hot while they're dancing in the club to the easy-to-follow 4/4 beat.
Dubstep makes you look like a retard if you try dancing to it.
As for the trailer:

Spoiler
It seems clear to me that they're pulling a "Looper" here with Ryan Gosling playing a newer Deckard model (same jacket) tracking down original movie Deckard who was hiding out in the radioactive wastes with Rachael. The old gun just happens to be the one he had on him when he left. Why on Earth would Deckard be sentimental toward his gun when he hated his job in the first movie?
And why, if Deckard was the same model as Pris, would Tyrell ask him over to test out the same memory control tech that was controlling him? Stupid Scott losing sight of the themes for the sake of an accidental M. Night Shyamalan twist.

The Vangelis melody is teased throughout (Ryan hits the first note of it on the piano). You clearly have no clue about music. That's fine - it's not for everyone, but don't be so dismissive. See above comments about what makes dubstep. Should probably make a list on what makes a wub though.Opus131 wrote:It's all the same to me. Sounds like you guys are not listening to the right stuff. Loads of techno sounds like the past. Almost all electronic music is 4/4 time signature. And there's about 50 sub-genres in between techno and house.Skykid wrote:Mischief Maker wrote:My only problem with dubstep is the use of "step" in the name, implying it's dance music, when it's impossible to dance to.

Re: Blade Runner 2049
I'm with GP. The music in the trailer is familiar of the old stuff and why shouldn't it be? If it was some modern stuff that would probably kill the major market for this film (ie, old people). Otherwise, for queries on electronic music types refer to article I: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/GaijinPunch wrote:Sounds like you guys are not listening to the right stuff. As for the film, it looks good and yet with Scotts name on it I have concern. Prometheus was not good. This looks significantly better mind you but I'm going in with tempered expectations.

I'm not saying he is bad at writing them. I think he just doesn't know. He literally can't tell good writing from bad writing. It isn't just bad luck that he keeps getting bad scripts.BryanM wrote:Scott isn't a writer at all.

Re: Blade Runner 2049
He gotta read them while he is filming them. Maybe he just doesn't care, though i find that hard to believe. Why even bother then? He could have retired on those sweet Gladiator money and call it quits, but he keeps coming back for some reason, crushing our hopes again and again.

Getting paid a mills bills to tell the camera guy to push the button and the actors to act is a pretty sweet deal. What kinda hippy commie are ya to suggest anyone has "enough" money for anything? Hookers and cocaine aren't gonna buy themselves, you know.

Re: Blade Runner 2049
Until recently I assumed Scott was heavily involved and had literally zero hope. Then I saw Arrival... and realized he was directing this. I may not be doing back flips just yet but I will at least say I think there's a better than average chance that it will be a solid film.FinalBaton wrote:I have faith in my boy Denis Villeneuve.

Re: Blade Runner 2049
Most of his films are well done and have gathered good reviews and accolades, that's why I have faith in him! Arrival is his most well know film to the mainstream, but he has a substantial number of good movies behind him already(most of which are only known in Québec), and they pretty much all gathered very positive reviews
