Acid King wrote:Alice in Wonderland (Disney animated)
Quoted for truth - underrated piece of work from before Disney were seen (or acting) as an evil empire. If anyone has read the book, it's surprising they managed to turn it into a working film, let alone a good one.

Some of my favourites:

Rollerball (the 1970s one)
Mad Max 2
Ghost In The Shell
The Big Lebowski
Brazil
Leon
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Silent Running
THX1138

I'll be honest - modern films have mostly been leaving me cold. Obviously things like the LOTR trilogy are amazing pieces of work in every respect, but aside from that - bleh.

I don't know what my favorite movies are, no idea really. But here are a few recent movies that I find I can watch multiple times without tiring of them:

Lost in Translation (well, I love Japanese-related stuff)
In the Cut (I think this is one of Jane Campion's finest films, a real work of art, but it gets no love because it is mistaken for a stock serial-murder movie)
Bottle Rocket (though I pretty much like anything by Wes Anderson, and Owen Wilson is great in this one)

American Beauty
Barry Lyndon
Passion de Jeanne d'Arc, La
Rosemary's Baby

These are some that come to mind.

If I had to pick only one (as the topic implies) I would pick Barry Lyndon. I don't think I'll ever tire watching that.
May we speak the beauty of thee, O Earth, that is in thy villages and forests and assemblies and war and battles.
