Shatterhand is also a character from a book.
And there's a place somewhere in the world called "Villa Shatterhand ", which I think its related to this book or something.
I also believe the book is german.
But yes, I took the nick from the NES game. Its a pretty cool game, but I got this name just because I thought it sounded cool. I've been using this name on internet since 98.
No_not_like_quake is my fav nick here for sure

Probably not. I think he refers to "Old Shatterhand", a character from the books of Karl May.Bal-Sagoth wrote:I read a book called Operation Shatterhand, once. Is this related?Shatterhand is also a character from a book.

Ya know, here in Brazil, there's a channel that airs "Chavo del Ocho" EVERY SINGLE DAY since 1983, and it seems they still get their audience, even though each episoded has been repeated dozens of times.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:If only they knew the greatness of "Chavo del Ocho" and "Chapulin Colorado"Specineff wrote:I'm flattered.jp wrote:Specineff... because thats my fav. It's hard to think about any tv show that had a bigger influence in our culture than this. I wonder if this was more sucessfull here in Brazil than in Mexico. Lately, T-shirts with the image of Don Ramon have been getting very popular (At least here in Rio de Janeiro)
And yes, I was talking about Old Shatterhand. Good to know there's also a book called "Operation Shatterhand". Since I've been using this name, I like to know where else it has been used

Oh man! I've forgotten about Karl May. Those used to be my favourite books when I was little. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Now I like Shatterhands nick all the more.
Anyway.. if you liked Karl May as a child, the more adult historic novels of Mika Waltari might be just up your ally. Sort of similar.. both geniouses writing very accurately about far away times, cultures and places, mixing in a great dose of adventure. Get a hold of "Sinuhe the Egyptian".. if the translation is done like it should, you won't regret it!

Actually, I think it is more famous out there. We don't see that much merchandise anymore. It seems that after channel 2 started to broadcast it on monday nights since 1982, some of the magic was lost. No more lunchboxes (45 dollars on Ebay for a mint Chapulin lunchbox? wow), shirts, toys, stickers or comics. One of the reasons for that, is that some of the decesed actors families wouldn't like to see the likenesses of Don Ramon and Sra. Clotilde (The Witch from apt 71) whored out.Shatterhand wrote: Ya know, here in Brazil, there's a channel that airs "Chavo del Ocho" EVERY SINGLE DAY since 1983, and it seems they still get their audience, even though each episoded has been repeated dozens of times.

Another reason for that is that we were deprived of the older and funnier episodes. Just the morning I was packing to move here to the USA, I saw an episode of Chavo in which the kids get into the Witch from apt 71's place, imagining it to be a real witch cove. I hadn't seen that episode since 1979.

Perhaps the Chapulin animated series and the DVD release of the series might revive the interest. I know for sure that the actress who did Chilindrina/Chiquinha is putting her voice in the spanish dub.
I'd kill for a Beats of Rage mod featuring the Chapulin and some other mexican hero. (Raton Crispin or Capulina would be ok). And no, I didn't like the mod featuring Chavo/Chaves.
You weren't counting on my cleverness, huh?

Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

I didn't know there was a chapulin animated series!
Though Chapulin wasn't as sucessful as Chavo here... and while I am no big fan of slapstick humor, I have to admit that Chavo is brilliant in a way. I find incredible how you could do humor in such a light way and still be fun (No need for dick and fart jokes, heh
), and how the you kind forget those actors aren't 8 years old children, but are actualy 40 years old... and Ramon Valdez was just perfect doing its role.
And in a way, we are lucky.. the NEWER episodes rarely ever are aired here, exactly because they arent half as good as the older ones.
Oh, whats funny about Don Ramon t-shirts is that they are being sold together among Bob Marley and Che Guevara t-shirts, as if he was some kind of hero...

Twitchdoctor all the way. BulletMagnet is also a cool screenname.
The funny thing is that it took me a year to suddenly realize that Twitch's screenname actually was a clever play with the words 'Witchdoctor' and 'twitch'. I remember I just sat in front of the screen one day, saw his name and going "...aah, I UNDERSTAND". Then I felt incredibly stupid not having noticed this rather obvious thing before.
