Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
I'm surprised at the lack of super metroid. I know it's a cliche pick, but man, what a game!
Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
Police Story is a film I had to turn off half-way through because I was so bored. Can't exactly remember what put me off because it was a long time ago now. I usually love Jackie Chan movies. Maybe I need to try and watch it again.
1. Terminator 2
2. Jurassic Park
3. Cape Fear (1991)
4. Hadashi no Gen
5. Offret
1. Ninja Gaiden (2004)
2. Biohazard Code: Veronica
3. Battle Garegga? Rayforce?
4. Actraiser 2? The Super Shinobi? Contra The Hardcorps? Alien Soldier?
5. Civilization IV

With the exception of Armour of God - although it's not without similar weaknesses - all old Jackie Chan films get boring between the fight sequences because they're mostly improvised, unscripted slapstick that has no relevance to the plot. They get tiring very easily. I think you can only judge JC films on their action sequences, and if we're doing that Police Story is fucking amazing. Wheels on Meals has one of the best final fights of all time, but the actual movie is garbage and there's very little actual action prior to the castle climax.zinger wrote:Police Story is a film I had to turn off half-way through because I was so bored. I love Armour of God, I think it's really got some great stuff in there, but for raw amaze Police Story is really untouchable. Just got to judge on the good stuff and ignore those hours of silly filler.

Yeah I don't expect more than good action sequences from HK action films. And that's perfectly all right with me; I must have watched about 50 chinese films or so that were pretty much rubbish in terms of plot, but which I still LOVED because of three or four perfectly directed action scenes... But the thing with PS was just that -- the action didn't impress me. All I remember was stupid slapstick. It was several years ago I tried to watch it and was immensly disappointed, because it was one of the JC classics I had missed when I was hardcore into HK action and I expected pure bliss. Right now I feel a bit inspired to give it another shot though.

Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
Games:
1) 40% Thunder Dragon 2
2) 38% J.J. Squawkers
3) 11% Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon
4) 06% Nin2-Jump
5) 05% Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX
I think this is about right. The percentages are just arbitrary score division between them out of 100 to show preference. So TD2 and JJ are very close to each other, and quite far ahead of Panel de Pon.
Film:
Don't have enough backing to make a list that's not embarrassing.

Glad to see Hard Boiled getting some love in here.
With that being said, Anyone with Tokyo Fist, Gummo, The Fifth Element, or The Thing in their top 5 is someone I would love to have a drink with.

Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
yeah, it was a tossup for me between donnie darko and the big lebowski.
And They Live IS awesome. Been a fan since I watched it as a kid. I really dig the idea with the aliens living among us and the whole mindcontrol thing. Also Keith David and the late Roddy Piper battling 5+ minutes because Keith refuses to put on a pair of sunglasses is just great. I love everything about that movie.

Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
Hard Boiled is about as good as it gets for all out shooting action. So not hard to see it in here. I'd have put The Fifth Element on if I have not seen it near 50 times. My dad would watch it on tv each time it would come on at one point. Its good, but not that good. lolNever_Scurred wrote:Glad to see Hard Boiled getting some love in here.

Personal favourites, I could not resist some nostalgia picks:
Films
Rosemarys Baby
The Tenant
Heat
Pulp Fiction
Conspiracy
(although Twelve Angry Mean is damn close to Conspiracy in terms of morbid entertainment. Any other movie like these two you recommend, dialogue and character-focused round table discussions. I know the german Wannseekonferenz is pretty good too)
Games
Shining the Holy Ark
Alien Soldier
Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Player Manager 2 (Anco, Swedish edition)
Battle Garegga

Re: Whats ur Top 5 Movies,Games?
in no particular order
Movies:
- Die Hard
- Terminator 2
- Dr. Strangelove
- The Road Warrior
- Ghost in the Shell
there's a couple things that barely missed the cutoff like Castle in the Sky and the first Iron Man movie
Games:
- The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match
- Shadow Dancer [Genesis]
- Ridge Racer Revolution
- Ridge Racer 2 [PSP]
- RayForce
other runners up are Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Omega Boost, and Starfox 2
Mars Matrix would be there but I haven't played it in forever, so it's clearly not a favorite.
