I'll add N++ to the list of PS4 exclusives, if you're into platforming games. Not much else I can name outside of fighting games
Where's Wipeout?

Re: The PS4 thread
Should probably change the title of this thread so people stop getting excited about the idea of other humans on the internet who want to talk about Phantasy Star 4. <(0_o<

Re: The PS4 thread
Been playing the crap out of N++. The leaderboards are brutal, but I've got some pretty decent times on the legacy "x" row. I'm paulie pancakes on there.Aliquantic wrote:I'll add N++ to the list of PS4 exclusives, if you're into platforming games. Not much else I can name outside of fighting gamesWhere's Wipeout?
There's a guy named "ammonia clouds" who makes some pretty brilliant custom levels on there as well. Every time I log on, he's got a bunch of new ones. They ought to hire him.

Re: The PS4 thread
Ah it's Nier that was the great looking game I thought was on PS4. Damn Platinum, either pick a side or multiplatform!
Re: The PS4 thread
I was just doing some thinking about what games which are already out I want to get at some point, as well as which upcoming games interest me. this is what I came up with. (these are not all exclusive ps4 games by any means)
metal gear 5
the evil within
divinity original sin
wasteland 2
deception iv
the last of us
puyo puyo tetris
axiom verge
soma
dark souls 3
earth defense force 4.1
mirror's edge
gravity rush 1+2
persona 5
nier automata
ni-oh
no man's sky
dariusburst acex
horizon: zero dawn (only cautiously interested in this, it may end up sucking)
Ys 8
Xcom 2 (hasn't been announced for ps4, but after the success of enemy unknown on consoles it has to happen, surely?)
holy shit that is a lot of games. even if I waited for everything to come down to £20 that is £400 worth of new games. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the next year or so in games.

Re: The PS4 thread
My problem with PS4, is that most of those games that interest me are already on other consoles or pc. So far I'm only seeing Nier Automata and Bloodborne. Those two will probably be enough together though.

Re: The PS4 thread
oh yeah definitely. if you own a decent pc there is not that much reason to jump on either ps4 or xbone. I'm sure I will eventually get round to upgrading my pc, but for now it's nice that I can get to play games like divinity - or even astebreed, on ps4.
I suppose this wasn't really a post about the ps4, but just how promising the next year in "big" video games is looking.

Re: The PS4 thread
Seems like everyone is sleeping on Assault Suits Leynos. I tried the demo a few days ago and it was pretty awesome. Dracue has clearly put a ton of work into the game over the last couple years between making two modes with different enemy placement, creating a (seemingly) good scoring system, and including tons of unlockables. It's now my most anticipated game for the foreseeable future.
Although I'm kinda worried that some bosses will remind me of Strider 2. In stage 2, you can just get behind the spider mech and annihilate it because it's completely defenseless.

^^^Had my eye on that one for a while. Will pick it up alongside the aforementioned Nier and Bloodborne when I get a ps4...if they don't port it to PC like they did with Gunhound first.

Re: The PS4 thread
yeah i forgot about that, I have played the demo and it is looking good.
Re: The PS4 thread
Not sleeping on it... just waiting for it.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: The PS4 thread
Add a new game to the list: Valkyria of the Blue Revolution (& a Valkyria Chronicles remaster).
It's only been announced for the PS4, but I'm sure it'll come to the PC too. Sega must have decided to re-invest in the series after the original game sold so well on Steam (500k+).

Re: The PS4 thread
nice! Valkyria Chronicles was one of the real standout PS3 exclusives. Hated the high school shitfest PSP sequel and never played the third, so feeling a little tepid about the newer entry Blue Revolution. The remaster comes with a demo of the new game apparently so I guess I can see what its all about then.
Re: The PS4 thread
the annoying thing about all of these remasters for me is they're making it harder for me to justify buying a ps3, but I know I will get one anyway. demon's souls alone is worth it.
Re: The PS4 thread
New Valkyria game is apparently not a SRPG.
Why does Sega removing all the good parts from their game series not even surprise me?
Definitely getting the remaster though, PC and PS3 ports are both suboptimal.

The first demo wasn't that great overall, the second demo showed massive improvement and plays well.

Re: The PS4 thread
Coupla screens for both the aforementioned Valkyria titles.
Re: The PS4 thread
I really couldn't be less hyped for a Valkyria game. I have to agree with people saying it seems to be a rebranded Shining game. I hope to be wrong, I really do.
Re: The PS4 thread
I was just reading on Eurogamer that the PS4 can now emulate PS1/2 titles. Anyone out there fancy trying out some Gradius V and letting me know how it fares? If it upscales nicely and has zero input lag it might help convince me to shell out on Black Friday.
Re: The PS4 thread
As of right now, only three Star Wars PS2 titles are playable - which I believe are only available to those who purchased some PS4 Battlefront Console bundle or something. You can't even purchase these from the PS Store as far as I know.Tregard wrote:I was just reading on Eurogamer that the PS4 can now emulate PS1/2 titles. In fact Sony have yet to even formally announce PS1/ PS2 Backwards Compatibility. It's certainly going to be a thing, but only for a few Star Wars games atm.
Re: The PS4 thread
Its sad but I doubt they would make it so you could just stick your ps2 game into the console and play right off the bat, my guess is they will follow the money making route and release specific games via psn to download and play...if they could just get ps1 games into the mix and maybe the ps3 games (even though sony has said its impossible to do) would really make my day.

PSX stuffs:
Rez HD coming to PS4 (and VR). With the recent PC releases of Shadow Complex and Strania, I think this might be time for my 360 to retire.
Full Throttle getting a remaster.
Oh and thank god they went with realtime combat for the Final Fantasy VII remake. Speaking of Final Fantasy VII, the PS4 port is out today.

Yakuza 0 is getting a western release. I'm glad they're not letting the inevitable sales bomb of Yakuza 5 dictate the series future, especially since there's a good chance that Zero is the best one yet. Sega has been great lately.
Ace Combat 7 might be cool too.

Re: The PS4 thread
Also announcement of Ni no Kuni 2. Loved the first one, even with the issues it had, so hopefully they do something about those.
Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy among 2 of the first PS2 games ported to PS4 for the digital rereleases(not counting the Star Wars ones). I'll probably consider grabbing both of those when I actually do end up getting a PS4. Dark Cloud is a definitely(along with Dark Cloud 2), while Rogue Galaxy is a maybe.
Also, FF VII released on PS4 which is a port of the PC version. Which could be used as an excuse to replay it before the remake(or for trophies if you care about those)

Re: The PS4 thread
Reading reactions to the Final Fantasy VII port the amount of people who say they can't play 4:3 games anymore is depressing.
The people who say they want an option to stretch to 16:9 ignoring aspect ratio is even more depressing.

Re: The PS4 thread
I'm pretty happy after seeing new screenshots of Shadow of the Beast. It's starting to look very much in line with the original games.
Godzilla was an inside job

I'd always wanted to try the Yakuza series, its amazing they are up to number 5 (not counting the spin offs) and I still havent tried anyiconoclast wrote:Yakuza 0 is getting a western release. Re: The PS4 thread
Until recently I was the same; one of the local Gamestop employees actually persuaded me to try 4 back when it was a freebie on PSPLus, and I bought myself a used copy soon afterwards. I'll be downloading 5 tomorrow (preordered the thing, in fact), but in the meantime I can say that 4 was good enough to convince at least one person to pick up the series, so if you see it cheap enough not to feel guilty about giving it a try (which shouldn't be too hard to happen upon by now) I recommend seeing if all that karaoke agrees with you.

Re: The PS4 thread
For me it is the godawful contrast of the super high fidelity display of the low poly 3D against the super low res backgrounds/textures in these new ports/re-releases. The assets look completely divorced from one another and make it almost impossible for me to just enjoy the game.ZellSF wrote:Reading reactions to the Final Fantasy VII port the amount of people who say they can't play 4:3 games anymore is depressing.
