I'm currently thinking and planning of doing something similar with a 25" Hantarex Polo monitor I have available to me. A friend of mine has 3 and has offered one to me for free
I'm really just thinking of building a box out of MDF and somehow incorporating the plastic bezel into the front.
Yeah that what i was thinking of doing but man that thing would weigh a tone so thats why i though about just getting a broken 25" TV and ditching the tube and using the case along with my RGB SCART 2 JAMMA Adapter i have sitting around....
Is there a way to use a 31khz monitor with 240p retro systems and retain scanlines?

If it's a 31khz-ONLY monitor, then you can't use 240p sources on it. 240p signals are 15khz and you need a linedoubler to use them on a 31khz/VGA screen.

Would the linedoubler effect the authentic look of the display, ie scanlines etc?
Yes, of course. It'll mess with lightgun games (that rely on scanlines being apparent) too.
That said, the xrgb2 (and similar) work fine for classic PC 31KHz monitors, and if you don't have access to a 480i-compatible tube, or you can only keep one monitor around and you need the higher res flexibility, a 31KHz CRT is an alright choice in many games (depending on how well it can sync to unusual games, if you're dealing with arcade boards). Haven't messed around with a scanline function.
I got the tv today.
There is a lot of color bleeding (tested with rgb scart ps2.)
Also geometry was a bit wrong and I messed up trying to fix it! It's awful now...can anyone help me with this? What are your settings? It looks horible now and I have no idea how to fix it...
