My secret's out!

My grandparents lived there and we'd visit 3 times a year on average, sometimes for a couple of weeks.

It's impossible for me to explain to anyone just how arcade heavy it was: maybe 10 enormous venues down the strip? More?

You had to be there I guess, but it was literally arcade heaven on earth.

It was, it really was. You remember the peir when it was at the hight of the coin-op boom? they were cramming cabinets in everywhere, even the upstairs bit.

We'd go usually twice a year, mostly because I'd be pleading with my parents to take me  They used to play the fruities and would always be fed up before I'd barely got started. Sometimes I'd go with a gamer friend from school as a special treat. I remember Blackpool was supposed to be even better, but when I finally went there I didn't find it a patch on Skegness, machines were in worse condition and more chavs. (sorry to anyone that loves Blackpool, just my first impressions!)

It's depressing to think of how many unlikely places were once STG hotspots. I definitely saw Batsugun in Kings Lynn railway station back in the day. Sigh.
