if you're using a newer mame, get a newer neogeo.zip.
this game only uses buttons 1 and 2. btw, apparently in shmupmame 4, autofire will only work on the real button 1 for some reason.

Seems to be that way in every game using the neo geo driver, hadn't noticed earlier.
As for the real button 1 thing, I'm using shmupmame 4 and autofire seems to be working fine on a custom button set to button 1, if that's what you mean.

Can't get this to work. I have the neogeo rom for mame but I'm still being told I'm missing some files.

The neogeo.zip changed some time around god knows when, you probably have an old set. Just search for the name of one of the missing files and you'll find a newer set and/or the missing files.Tigershark wrote:Can't get this to work. for the buttons, i mean setting what would be button 1 over on button 3 (custom button 1) and then doing the opposite. it was brought to my attention that in shmupmame v4.2, there was a weird glitch with this game or neo geo in general. of course, this duplication is probably why.

Anyone got a clue why the game gives me an error when I try to open it (this game is missing on or more CHD etc.), but if I use a GUI for MAME suddenly everything is fine?

I had to rename some files before this worked (also you need to download the 1 mb+ neogeo.zip file)
Here's the cmd line (extract files to a folder named androdun)
ren 049-m1.bin 049-m1.m1
ren 049-v1.bin 049-v1.v1

It usually doesn't matter since you should only use a charge shot during a boss fight (for instant-kill).

As a fan of gradius 3 I enjoyed this game. Here's hoping I get more free time this week to play this.
This week we had the release of ultra sf4 and now we have crimzon clover rearing it's world ignition head. Add a busy schedule to the mix and you have a formula for a shmupping disaster.
P. S. I was also enjoying galmedes, but I found it extremely difficult. Also these games in this stgt are so obscure it's tough finding super replays for em. Nevertheless I'm really enjoying the variety.

I'm just getting segfaults :/..
and playing 20+ minutes just to try some new dubious stuff, then I guess i rather stick to what i know should work..

and within the same instance i load, it works about 75% of the time..

there were a couple of versions where save states in the driver broke (saving too much RAM, causing a crash)
should be OK in current versions tho. was fixed once it was reported.

yea, shouldn't be that issue i think, running .152 which is .. not the newest version, but not that old..

Yeah I think 0.152 was the public release where it was actually broken, it broke shortly after the previous version but nobody reported it until 0.152 was out.
