What are you playing it on Kiken? AES or MVS? Either way, I forget what default is for the home console. I'm thinking its 4? 1-8Kiken wrote:I've recently put everything else aside so I can focus on Pulstar. I'm aiming for the SLC, since if you die, the game is over... well, I can do the final boss with the handful of power-ups they give you, but the rest of the game has to be flawless.
I made it right up to the final leg of stage 8 on my first life a few days ago (I figure that there were about 3 screen-lengths until the exit to the final boss). Still gotta practice stages 7 and 8 heavily though.
Its been a while...

It doens't matter which version you play: AES, MVS or CD. The game defaults to difficulty 4 (which is always MVS-difficulty.. 3 is Normal). I was originally working with the Neo-CD rev... now I have an MVS cart that I'm running on my AES via the Phantom1.TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:What are you playing it on Kiken? AES or MVS? I was playing a lot of R-Type Final up until about a week ago...cleared F-C on Human, finished unlocking all the ships. I've been snacking on a few different games since then...Psyvariar 2, R-Type 1 and 2. I dug out Phalanx earlier today...the hillbilly cover art thread reminded me of it, and my kid's never seen it before. Played a bit of Axelay with him too.

If you think about it, is MegaDrive any great name either? It sounds really fucking weird to me. Come to think of it, every single console has a sucky name.superhitachi4 wrote:On a side note: WHY the hell did the MegaDrive have to be renamed in America? I'm currently trying to practice Daoujou. I can get to mid way through level 1-4 with a 1cc. Trouble is that whenever I practice it doesn't seem to be as ranked up as when I get there in the game, I'm getting used to it though. I'm hoping to be through level four and on to level five within a couple of weeks.
I am also dipping my toes into the water of Mushihimesama. I've tried all the modes and all the ships and played for an hour or so. I think I'll be attempting a 1cc at maniac level. I would love to try ultra but it's just simply beyond me
Oh, and,
And my advice to anyone else attempting to play Galaga 88 on PC Engine; just don't do it, it'll ruin your life.
Cheers

Oh, and,
Don't do it mate, it's too addictive, put the game down and walk away from the console then ask your wife/girlfriend/family members to hide the game away from you. Cold Turkey is the only way to shake it off mate.dessgeega wrote:i'm playing galaga 88 on my coregraphx. huzzah!

Got back into the Raiden Project, Raiden 1 in particular. Not very good, but it's just so enjoyable to play I don't really mind.
And trying to spend some quality time with Shiki 2. Didn't really impress me when I first purchased it, but the more I play, the more I like. Just so much freedom play-wise compared to similar games that I find I very rarely get frustrated to the same extent as some other shooters (DonPachi and DoDonPachi in particular).

Pretty much true. Dreamcast was fairly cool. Many of the others were sort of generic. It's almost like they had to add those little tag-lines to make up for the console name.alpha5099 wrote:If you think about it, is MegaDrive any great name either? Battle Garegga... Visited the strategy topic by Icarus and it is helping me a lot.. Though I still suck at the game(my fault), 3rd boss is a pain and I barely survive level 4.
Been playing Guwange recently, I'm a horrible guwange player btw.
and Mars Matrix last year, I could get to level 4 in 1 credit, and that's it.
Well, I must be the worst shmup player on this forum, lol

Because Sega said it was their new begining, which is what Genesis means in Latin, and it turned out to be so-especially after the Master System had done so poorly over here.
At any rate, I am currently working on Skull Fang, and while I really dig this shmup, I also need some help as to how you rotate your aircraft:

Any advice would be appreciated, as the demo is only in Japanese, and demonstrates movement with a joystick, not a Saturn D-Pad. And the manual is in Japanese as well.
