Who knows, perhaps there will be some SDOJ Matsuri Edition or something. Then they can make yet another game for the 360 and milk some more. Tho I hope they are doing better than it looks and perhaps we will get a new shmup announcement. One can dream.

I don't get it why CAVE is so terrible at making money. All they really have to do is release their old titles again and make sequels to their current ones. And by releases i don't mean stupid smartphone experiments.

Where is a good port of Dodonnpachi or even Donpachi (i heard the Saturn ones don't cut it)? Why don't they release ESP.Ra.De and Dagun Feveron on one disc? Why not doing a Guwange and Progear rerelease on a physical disc? Just pop these out, do a HD remake, add an arrange mode and you are good to go. Jesus Christ.

ESP Ra.De. and Progear are the two games they do not have the license rights to, afaik.

Also, Cave is A LOT bigger than just their shmup studio. If the people responsible for the shmups would break off and do their own thing it would probably be around 20 people at best, if that. So that way, basically becoming a more indie studio, like Triangle Service, they could probably go on doing what they do best and make an OK profit. Tho in the case of a split they would of course lose the rights to the previous games. Oh well.

I have a question concering this: Why is this such a problem? Is it impossible to speak with the ones who have the rights and maybe to convince them to give up on them or give them like X percent of one sold game?

That surely would be possible. But it might be too much hassle and not enough gain for Cave to pursue it.

How is ESPRade any different from Guwange in terms of copyright? Guwange got out just fine and I could've sworn I saw an Atlus logo on that too. Progear I understand being Capcom but Atlus are just distributors.

I have to be honest that I do not know about the specific details behind the ESP Ra.De. license issues. I just remember it being posted on here quite a few times that there are issues. Perhaps someone who is more in the know about this and has specifics could come forward.

It wasn't a roadmap, I think it was the results of their poll asking which game fans wanted on XBLA. Guwange actually turned out to be a good choice since we got the Blue version thrown in, which would have never seen the light of day otherwise.

Aha. I know they were at some point planning to release most of their games on GoD, what ever happened to that?

Not sure, I'm going to guess DSII and Akai Katana were unpopular. It's a shame, I would have loved that.

Not impressed. Minimal effort was put into this event. No new merch aside from that new kinect bullshit and the mouse. Grabbed a 2-inch high stack of SDOJ flyers, though. :mrgreen:
