Not much into consoles, but it looks OK. What I had in mind was basically Guwange with zombies. Undead Line doesn't have quite the polish I would want, nor the danmaku clouds, although it does look pretty hectic for what it is.

Well, Guardian Force (I can't recommend emulation in this case) sends a few swarms of... jetpack soldiers (?) against your armoured flying carpet. Then there's Air Duel.

It would be nice if Squaresoft gave the genre a shot again.

Rayman Origins had a few shmupy levels and I like their style. They were really basic and easy by genre standards, but I think they could create something with real personality if they fleshed it out a bit.

Kirby's Block Ball seems to be as close as Nintendo's gonna ever give you. Highly recommended.

I wish there was a vertizontal Saturn Psikyo shmup that had more stages (in random order!) and a bunch of extravagant weapon powerups like in Space Megaforce.
