Sony Closes Studio Liverpool (fomerly Psygnosis) (WipEout)

Didn't play Fury, but HD was the biggest reason to own a PS3. It's still the shit on Vita, even though the silky frame rate has gone. Fucking hated 2048 though.

After the PS3 iterations I would not buy another version of Wipeout. Its run its course.
Why people want 2000 games that play almost exactly the same is beyond me. The PS3 versions had online and 1080p graphics. Thats all there was to milk from it.
If another 10 Wipeouts come out, be my guest and buy them all. Some of you people seem to hate on people that have differing opinions to yourselves. Not to mention finding it hard to understand very basic English. If the next Wipeout was going to sell 30 million copies I don't think Studio Liverpool would be shutting down. But it is. And thats that.
We can cry a river, or move on.

-And just before the lock; my inner asspie would like to point out that Shadow Of The Beast (Reflections, now part of Ubisoft) and Blood Money (DMA Design, now Rockstar) were only published by Psygnosis.

As was Lemmings.
(They did however create games like Misadventures of Flink, Colony Wars, Destruction Derby)

Yeah, back in the day they were mostly a publishing house. I could be wrong, but I think they supplied musicians and artists for some developers they published too, didn't they?
Humans, think about what you have done

That applies to 95% of current gen games - it's like last gen but prettier and online.neorichieb1971 wrote:After the PS3 iterations I would not buy another version of Wipeout. Its run its course.

All I actually wanted from HD was WipeOut online and prettier - and smoother - and it delivered. It's up there with F-Zero GX for me and it's a shame there won't be another.
As for Psygnosis, my bad, though they did release their own stuff as well I'm sure. I just remember back in the Amiga days that they had a reputation for putting out stunning looking, but pretty average games.

So what would you put in a new Wipeout that hasn't already been done? New tracks?Marc wrote:That applies to 95% of current gen games - it's like last gen but prettier and online.neorichieb1971 wrote:After the PS3 iterations I would not buy another version of Wipeout. Its run its course.

Since nobody did a decent mariokart clone this generation in HD, they could have used the engine for that. A Powerdrift clone would have worked wonders with that engine as well. If only they threw some ideas at their technology.
