you have to check the output video modes....

There are two different converters available - true for Wii and for PS2 as well. One's a pure A/D converter (Neoya for the Wii, MG3000 for the PS3) and other one's a upscaler (like your Wii dongle or the one I linked on eBay). Don't rely on what's written on the dongle itself. They're all generic - they all come from the same factory. Distributors just get them differently labeled....

I found this one : HDV-G300 PS2 to HDMI Converter ( UP Scaler 1080P)
It says " UP Scaler 1080p" in the name but in the description it still says " - Supported HDMI output Mode: Outputs pure digital HDMI video/audio signals. "

I guess I will just wait for a while until it gets on amazon.co.uk so I can find one that comes with the right description..better safe than sorry.

I think this particular ones does not scale - no idea why it says 1080p. The one's listed on ebay Germany do have a switch for 720p and 1080p output - just like your Wii version of the Dongle.

Ahh ok, that means I will have to wait until the one with the 720p/1080p switch pops up somewhere that I can order it from.

EDIT: Found one on ebay and asked the seller and he said that it has a switch for the output.I will buy it in two weeks or so when I can afford it

No, your monitor obviously does not support 480i through HDMI/DVI. (or 576i in case you're running a PAL setup).

Any game supporting 480p. Here's a list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HD ... _PS2_games

You have to memorize how to set the game to 480p though, since you have to do blindly. Once set to 480p, it should work on your display. It doesn't matter if your system is PAL or NTSC, but the games have to be NTSC to support 480p.

I ordered one from a seller on ebay.co.uk who promised that its with 1080p output and a switch for switching between 720p/1080p as well. Well it arrived today and it's not.. it outputs what the ps2 its outputting...the menu looks horrible. 480p games look alright admittedly but on everything else there are serious scrolling lines which are pretty easy to notice if you're close to the screen. On another note PS1 games work on my monitor as 480i. So passable if I am not close to the screen but overall not a huge improvement from the HDBoxPro besides the fact that HDMI is a bit easy when you have to switch screens etc. 20 pounds for nothing more or less..

I did this saw this today and I realised that I should've bought that one instead..

werk91 and FedEx, did either of you ever figure something out? I found the following thread from another forum to have some good information. It seems like the "3rd generation" of this adapter would the way to go for you guys: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f291/hdmike ... ut-109365/

I tracked down the Japanese Amazon page for the 3rd generation, but it's out of stock: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%80%90MA-963 ... d_sxp_f_pt

The company seems to be Media Active, and the model number seems to be MA-9639.

Another Japanese product page, out of stock: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/candybox/ch0597/
Some reviews of it are here, in Japanese, and Google Translate does a horrible job, maybe someone here reads Japanese?: http://review.rakuten.co.jp/item/1/2450 ... tem_review

Three US importers seem to have it here:

I suppose the chances of these working on a PS1 fall somewhere between "Slim/none" and "Fuck no"

they don't, because they're COMPONENT to HDMI converters.

Hi I'm newbie of this forum. I have used this device for 6 months.
This PS2 to HDMI converter passs 240p signal(of PS1's) to HDMI. IF your display can receive 240p signal, it worth. My TV (LG 55LN5700(2013 model)) can receive 240p signal via HDMI well - NO deinterlace, 60p/sec pure 240p signal). BTW, in component input, my TV deinterlaces 240p signal to 480i(motion adaptive method.)
the HDMI - 240p output - is superior than this. so i happily used this device for months.
