You forget the frame perfect empty locking, which is just stupid.

Not that most of us can do it, but still.

I assume the console ports are fine with all of these?

The console ports would definitely be fine for all 3 of them.

And that goes whether it's DOJ Black or DOJ White.

Please be Ketsui.
I'm not ready for DDP DOJ yet and Espgaluda is boring.

Empty lock is a technique you only have to abuse if you want to get close to World Record tier scores. Nobody here is going to do that, you literally do not have and shouldn't use this.
For your information, MrMonkeyMan doesn't do it either. He only uses it a bit on stage 1 and that is only for a couple of millions. And unless you can beat his score I don't see how anyone here can have a problem with this.

Ketsui is the best on the list. Espgaluda is terrible milking and optimization hell and although DOJ is fine I can see how some people might have a problem with the chaining.

Well, my Daioh ROMsets don't work with the newest MAME, but I haz Ketsui.

Ketsui, a Cave game whose default highscore I beat on my third credit! :o

DOJBL better win this. I don't know if I can survive a week of Ketsui and Galuda is.....Galuda.
Chaos Phoenixma wrote:Oh, and I don't think that many would 2-All DOJ White. I'm sure Naut probably could, maybe sikraiken. And maybe there'd be a few others.
You do realize that noone in the US has cleared DOJ WL, right? Even in Japan hardly anyone has.

Any advice on getting SDLMAME to run on OS X? I've followed these instructions:

http://forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads. ... mber=58897

right up to where I need to "make" in Terminal. At that point, I get an error every time. I have the proper version of XCode, SDL, and MAME. I've tried for a long time to get this to work with no success. I really don't want to sit out next week but I'm thinking I'll be forced to.

A vote for anything other than Ketsui is a vote for bad scoring systems.

A vote for ESPGaluda is a vote for pissing a bunch of people off. Also it's a vote for a really good game. God bless

Good Games Week. 8)

DOJBL is a really fun game and probably quite a bit more fun than Ketsui but if you have to consider their scoring systems as well, which you kinda do in a competition about score, then Ketsui wins for Team Procrastination

Unless your OS X is under 10.6? Ask in SDLMAME forum, and include the entire text output of "make".

The newest versions of mame havent been compilable without the newest x-code version for osx (comes with snow leopard on default.. needs developer license which costs money on leopard  ) they were supposed to fix this (not intended) but I guess they still havent. try and compile an older version of mame, 142 worked fine for me at least

This, so much. It's not even that the scoring systems are awful on their own, they are just completely awful for a 1-week scoring competition where the handful of people who seriously play the game outside of STGT have such a significant advantage that no one else might as well play.

Just out of curiosity, have you actually tried playing Galuda for score?
Optimizing stages is such a finicky and precise execution that it might as well be easier to chain in DOJ.

Advantages from people who have played games before will always be there. And how is this different for Galuda? Or any other STGT game that people played before for that matter?
Oh, if only it were remotely as simple!
Get close to start a 5-chip timer and lockshot until it runs out is simple enough to get good scores with.

I'm sure 90% of the people here have 1CCed Galuda, that's the difference.
