That's why it should be banned IMO. No fun seeing 100+ entries on the scoreboard with the X-36 listed from top to bottom.

About 30 minutes of voting left. I received 27 votes already, which isn't all that bad.

What the hell, 1-7 is running at like 80% speed in shmupmame 2.2, and I can't use Wolfmame because it doesn't save unlocking the x36.

My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 3200 and I think this is enough to run MAME well. Does technology just hate me?

At least it's not Bakraid.

I was hoping for Raiden Fighters because it was the one of those 3 that I like the most. Not that I actually like any of the 3.

Your processor is the important thing with MAME. Newer versions of MAME generally run games slower.

Awesome. Though I'd have been good with Raiden too.

Cool. So is there any discernable difference between playing the Japanese or US versions?

Nothing aside from the player entry screen being translated.

Just out of curiosity, how are the games put up for voting determined?

If I'd asked to break my own team's even vote in favor of RF1, we could've had it!

Yes, it's all my fault.

I voted for a Psikyo game over Seibu, wonders never cease. RF1 is great but I felt like I'd seen it a lot recently.

I'm just relieved it's not Bakraid. Not a bad game but I still don't care to learn that first boss scoring trick.
Illyrian wrote:Nowhere near as good though, the X-36 is seriously superior to the others
I know that wasn't a reply to me.

RF series games pretty much need to be played with Slave (imo, I guess some people like charge shots and slow ships though, my mileage definitely varies), but Strikers still feels fine with the other ships. If somebody wants to ban X36 to prevent that I'm down with it.

ShmupMAME 2.2 doesn't recognize the one I have. The other versions of MAME if I have that do no longer want to work for me and give me an error.

Just another reason I would have prefered RF because I wouldn't have had to deal with this stuff.

Finding a proper working rom for either an older or newer version of MAME is very easy using your favorite search engine. Stop complaining. Image

Wow, this is a lot harder than I remember when I first played it in an airport ages ago. Moving along slowly, I can reliably TB the initial four bosses now. Not submitting a score until I can break 1-5.

I'm coming off a lengthy shmup break and this is a bit of a shock to the system. Always liked this game but to say I'm dreadful at it is an understatement. I think I'll only be kept off the bottom by people not submitting scores.

I know the feeling. Been really out of practice.
