Vamos - You're on the wrong site.
Whilst athletics will make you fitter, they are no more productive than getting high scores on video games.
One can do both btw.

I'm only trolling. It does seem very bad form, and if I cared, I'd probably be pissed off.
London seems absolutely dead. The whole thing seems to be a bit of a damp squib. Such a terrible time to host the Olympics...

Cheating at badmitton during the Olympics in order to medal. I thought this was the plot for another Will Ferrell comedy. It's badmitton! Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the pogo stick was an Olympic "sport"

Re: Olympic 2012 random info
South Korea gets its first gold medal in archery! Nice last set too. Scores of 29-29-29-28 against the Japanese 28-28-29 (tie)-25. Good shooting all around.
The basketball game between Team USA and Nigeria was almost painful to watch. Some hotdog performances (some reverse dunks) from the USA team but at the same time I couldn't always tell if the Nigerians were getting the ball taken or if they were fumbling (a bit of both sometimes). Apparently they were really tired as they had a very shallow bench. They had good spirit, and Team USA didn't go all-out at the end so they kept it somewhat dignified. Not really a nail-biter unless you were waiting for the 30th free throw. Bunch of records set in that match. Apparently, though, the legendary Brazilian Oscar Schmidt's records for points in one Olympics won't be touched. That's fine, though, because Carmelo Anthony came pretty close and on a team that was much better balanced - if Schmidt had been injured, the Brazilians of his day would've been dead in the water, which explains his 1988 average of 41.9 points per game (!!!) At the same time, Anthony's performance is against a team that was quite weak. Nigeria had a good scoring pace early on but it trailed off later (again, no bench to speak of).
Lots of other good performances too. Gabrielle Douglas is one of the somewhat surprising stories of this Olympics. In men's gymnastics, I find it hard to watch usually but Kohei Uchimura was fun to watch! That said, the top women gymnasts seemed to put on a more amazing performance overall. I didn't see any bar routines though.

What the fuck was up with the Shimizu/Abdulhamidov match? I'm no expert but it looked to me like the guy was concussed or something and literally couldn't stay standing but the ref was acting like he was taking dives? I guess?
Re: Olympic 2012 random info
I'm not really a fan of how the rich parents get like a gazillion chances for their little darlings to win a medal, but this is the plutocratic world we're living in. Weightlifters do two lifts, and if it was like swimming, they'd be up for a medal for both of them.
If you normalize Phelp's medals by how many chances kicking off of walls can get a medal, the man only has like 1.1 of them or something. Not a big deal. Not even close to the ping pong champion of the world.

Is it ok to find female elite athletes attractive or is it degrading or something?

Re: Olympic 2012 random info
S Korea vs Britain soccer(football) was a close ass match. Down to the wire...
I gotta hand it to the koreans for being a fighter throughout the whole match. Their tenacity was pretty much the reason they won that. They looked more tired than the brits, they were always pushed into a defensive position, they got injured, and I think the referee were a bit more critical on them. After all that they managed to keep the score 1-1 and won 5-4 in the penalty kick.
Well they face Brazil next... and yeah we know what's most likely going to be the outcome on that. But I think they have a good chance to get a bronze at least.

Don't see what's wrong with that. Kind of wish the women in swimming races wore one piece swimsuits like beforeFIL wrote:Is it ok to find female elite athletes attractive or is it degrading or something?

Espgaluda III needs to happen.

Brazil isn't as strong now as it used to be so they may take it.

Apparently yes, it's wrong to gawp at female atheletes. But not men.
I think that's what that article is about anyway. I've seen more coherant drunk tweets.

Haha, a commenter on that Guardian piece (which I'm not going to degrade myself reading through) linked this
Anyway, more Olympics, less The Guardian!
About the "superfan" who had tickets every day - how come he was able to get tickets to everything, when other people weren't able to get tickets to a single event? I hate to sound like Mitt Romney but that's not very encouraging. (Actually it's British people who are complaining most about this, since they live there and are essentially barred from their own games!)
Fun sausage party the IOC branding committees are throwing (as seen here).

As for the Olympics. Felt super proud to see the Canadian Women's Football team made it to the semi and held the US until the last minutes of stoppage time in extra time. Kind pissed about that penalty kick though.

Re: Olympic 2012 random info
Good to see some fast-paced and physical women's soccer. It's sad that officiating may have affected the match outcome. The ref didn't have an easy choice though since the US team likely would've complained about the GK delay situation and/or handball if they had lost. I was sympathetic towards Canada when I first heard the news but after seeing the red card non-call for the Canadian player's head stomp, I think everything evened out.
