Normal Course:
Icarus - 26,329,530 - Saber Tiger [C] - ALL

Image

Lets see...
  • Ended the Naval stage (stage 3) with about 18mil, chaining as far as the bomber before the three-turrets-four-subs bit (and messed that up, along the with 16x on the large battleship before Leviathan)
  • Rather luckily 64x'ed the large tank at the Seaside (but missed the four large planes and the four tanks)
  • Took two lives to Cloud. Managed to last the whole trip, suiciding to keep my 64x on the two bombers before Gigamanta, and then Gigamanta took out my other spare life during the first form, trapping me with the downscreen fourway and the red arrow patterns. Finished the credit with half a bomb to spare :)
Time to practice and improve my stage strategies.

I've not been able to improve on my score at all too, I hope I do..

Special (Boss Only) Course:
Icarus - 12,792,550 - Saber Tiger [C] - Stage 6 (Gigamanta)

Image

Took a bit of time out from heavy Normal Course practice to give Special Course a go, and got this. I think I've figured out a very good strategy to counteract Saber Tiger's homing missiles (to stop too much damage being done to Axebeak's main body) as well as a good method of weakening the cockpit to set up for the three 64x for the 11.5mil score.

Right now, I think I've nailed the timing for the two bombs on the wings, which now means I'm consistent enough to get between 8 - 11.5mil on each credit, which helps in gathering Extends for practicing the long Naval chain. I still have a bit of trouble taking out the cockpit properly though, as sometimes Axebeak hides the cockpit at the top of the screen during it's floaty movements, making it hard to target.

On this credit, I got to Cloud carrying three of my total five extra Extends (lost one to Balrog), only to have a string of errors leading up to Gigamanta. I mistimed a dodge during Gigamanta's second form's bullet hell and found myself on the wrong side of the trap vulcan, and promptly died.

On an unrelated credit, I made it to the second form of Golem on Special Course (the 6mil score at the bottom of the table in the screenshot), only to be totally unprepared for the radial splash attack after it tries to stomp you. :(

I don't think I'll attempt Advanced Course until I am comfortable navigating ALL of Normal Course ;)

Indeed. Good score with the Solid Ray, not the easiest of ships to use. :)

Normal Course:
Icarus - 27,409,240 - Saber Tiger [C] - ALL

Goddamn my newly rekindled snooker addiction :x This is the first time I've played Bakraid in over a fortnight, quite out of practice, but still managed to chain Axebeak and the first half of Naval :?

I'm starting to keep x64 going farther into the Naval stage now. Usually all the way past the submarines and rail turrets if I'm lucky. That next section with the large battleship leading right up to the boss looks like it'll be tricky to learn. I also want to learn to x64 the railroad boss but I keep putting it off out of pure laziness.

Finished stage 2 Naval at 32+ million and then didn't do much else. On Naval I had x64 throughout including the last boss except chained only three of the four important parts of the boss first form.

Bumping this dormant thread with my pathetic score.

Normal:
AWJ - 2,867,160 - Saber Tiger [S] - Stage 4

I've generally been doing best with the Blade Owl, but my top score so far (less than 24 hours after playing this game for the first time in my life) was with the Tiger.

I just noticed that what's actually enhanced about the B ships' bomb is the duration--it lasts quite a bit longer with the same number of bomb chips. Maybe B is the variation of choice for crazy extended chaining?

That's the weird thing about this game, seems to happen to everybody! One day I couldn't even beat the third stage, the day after I almost beat the final boss on my first run! I'll wait for five years now, give it another try, and then post my 50 million score. ;)

I was playing Raiden Fighters 2, practicing more and more so that I can eventually 1cc it(itll be my first 1cc, so I'm starting with somethin easy), and I beat it using 1 less credit(from 5 credits to 4), so I was feeling pretty good and decided to play some other games to get a little variety. When I played Bakraid, I started off alright, died once during the first boss(his second form always gets me, I dont know why), and I passed railroad(I was happy, but I had done it before). I got passed naval without a scratch and just thought I was getting lucky. But then I went on to pass desert(even the boss! a first!)and seaside, and I just started to freak out. Its just incredible how some games seem to work that way. Bakraid just seems to be a more "emotional" game, where its more about going into it with a good attitude where you're confident and able to pull off crazy moves than memorizing all the attacks. I still like Battle Geregga more(the stages just seem more cinematic and I like the ships better in Geregga), but since my rom for that isn't working completely(it always exits before the 2nd level boss), I've been playing bakraid more and more, and it is a damn fine game in its own right. Anyway, as I wasn't concentrating on score too much, my end score wasnt that impressive, but I'm still proud of it:

advanced: 2,631,740; Flame Viper[A]; stage 6

Been playing this quite a bit recently trying to get the axebeak milking trick, but still yet to get anywhere.

Got a small improvement on my old score though.

Normal

freddiebamboo - 7,318,700 - Flame Viper [A] - Stage 6

By the way, what is the code for seeing the multiplier counter? Ever since sheeps site went I've been clueless.

Crud score but I have to post it, since it's my first Raizing 1CC (Normal course, obviously):

BulletMagnet - 5,035,700 - Steel Bat [A] - ALL

Not all that impressive an achievement on the whole, but I at least now know that I've successfully waded across the "kiddie pool" of Raizing shmups. :) From here I can work on scoring a little bit...

KennyMan666 - 3,640,440 - Saber Tiger - Stage 5

I shouldn't be playing Raizing shmups since I always obsessively try to collect everything that drops and thusly get shafted to the extreme by the rank. But oh well. :P

Edit: Sorry, yes, just normal.

I'm assuming these are both normal course. Kennyman, you shouldn't have to worry about the rank too much in Bakraid especially on normal course. It really only gets tough if you have like 4 extra lives in stock. Even then, dying a few times will lower it right back down. Normal can be 1 lifed fairly easily while collecting pretty much everything in sight.

It's not quite as big a deal as you might think: off the top of my head, only Garegga and Soukyugurentai penalize you for powering up, most other Raizing shmups only get angry if you're playing for score instead of pure survival. Bakraid will only come after you if you score high enough to start hoarding lives, if you play mainly for the 1CC it shouldn't get too hard.

Trust me, if I can 1CC the bugger, anyone can. ;)

EDIT: Dang, beaten to it.
