Again, I absolutely love my iPhone as a handheld. I'll troll through the game lists looking for stuff sometimes and also ask my friends what they are playing, so got a couple more games on the free front - most are pretty good, Army of Darkness Defence, yup Evil Dead style defence game (what is the sub catagory when you rush against the horde in real time on one plane?). Off the Leash, get it while it's free, new games sometimes show up free at first, I got Wildlings and Monster Island this way, both good games. Don't Run With a Plasm Sword, one of those forward running games, with a touch of 'Vania style upgrades. Ninja Gaurd, Japanese combo style finger slash/single screen real time defence. Techno Kitten Adventure, one level free demo, but the song is dope and the game is tripped out. I LOVED the bite sized 'point and click' (now look and touch?) mystery game, Grisly Manor - short, sweet, midlevel puzzles, probably going to but their other game as well after playing this freebie. PDA Games, the ultra awesome platforming hidden in Alien Hominid (best played with friends) is free - with a clunky interface and screen scrolling that takes away from the game.. Soviet Missle Mastar. Osu! (the punctuation is part of the game, my suggestion is not that excited) and okay music game that I have a hard time completing the first song in. My friends really like playing Shadow Cities, but it is a weird location based mmorpg that I find pretty fucking boring, but will play with them in person when they are excited about raiding a real life location we are in.
Scribblenauts is so very worth the money, it is black magic, and will impress anybody when you show them the game, or evn claim that you can summon any object even on the title screen. It has been the ONLY game the girlfriend even looked at for longer than two seconds, let alone is happy to watch/help me play.
After trying a couple free RSS readers, I settled on Flipboard, works great, and I was able to remove everything except their main news screens and fill it with the various blogs I fallow. It's
Lastly a quick pic display, but usually fills the main text with one tap.
I hafta call bullshit on the notion of phone gaming being casual, most of these games get seriously difficult about halfway through. I have given up on a few now just because they get stoopid hard at some point. Sure I'm branching genres, so someone is happy for that, but sometimes I really would like to play something easy, fast, and fun just to kick ass and enjoy it.
So yeah, keep the suggestions coming!
edit: There's a lot of typos in that, but I'm a little drunk and actually posting from my phone... So yeah, game related honorary drunk thread autospe(tuned)lled gimme that freeshit post-o-whammy.

Thirded (or fourthed?) on Groove Coaster. I got my uncles hand me down 3GS for Christmas and this game has gotten the most play. My current world rank is 2617, need to try harder! When Space Invaders Infinity Gene drops in price I will probably grab that too. Thanks for the tip on Blade Dash.

Also, as far as a tower defense game goes I like Sega's Samurai Bloodshow +. Wonder if it's still on sale?

I still need to get Groove Coaster. It looks interesting and I love Space Invaders Infinity Gene.

The only thing that bugs me about Groove Coaster is the slowdown. Getting a text or email slows it down, hopefully you don't have a 400 chain going!

When I started playing it, battery warnings didn't pause the game - it kept running in the background. Guaranteed to ruin your run.
Seems ok now, so perhaps it was a glitch or fixed with an update.

Also, what Cave game would ya'll recommend most on iOS? I have Deathsmiles and love the item collecting element they added. Mushi, DDP, or ESP?

I grabbed Mushi because it's the simplest control-wise. I plan to get DOJ because it's one of my favorites, but I'm expecting to find myself frustrated dealing with the interface.

Bumping this topic as I got an iPod hand-me-down, and I'm looking for a few arcade games to that... I haven't really liked most games I've tried so far (Mr Oops in Icarus' list is probably my favorite, Pacman CE is interesting but a little lacking somehow) and a few games that sound pretty good can't run on a mere iPod Touch.

Not sure if there's much else that fits the criteria of low hardware requirements and being arcade-y, short and mostly scoring based (not looking for shmups by the way), but feel free to fire up more suggestions :)

I like Final Freeway, and the Sonic CD port works quite well too.

Game Dev Story is the only game that has made me want to commit to an IOS device for 6 hours straight.

Admittedly, I haven't played a lot of IOS titles, but GDS deserves your consideration.

Reckless 2 is awesome. Super Off-Road with better graphics and sublime handling. Three quid.
