A lot of PC shmups run tiny windows when I try to play them on my laptop. The machine's nothing special, but it's only about a year old. I'd have thought any old toaster would be able to run games like Cho Ren Sha, Eden's Aegis and BWR, but it appears not. I don't suppose there's anything I can do to force a larger display?

Ed: I should clarify that I don't mean 'windows' in the computing sense. They're technically running full-screen, but blacking out a large percentage of it. :P

It sounds like you have to find where it's setting the full screen games to do that and change it, if you can.

That sounds like your display is set to not scale the display when doing a resolution switch.
It's a pretty simple fix if you have some settings program that came with your video card [like Intel's control panel], otherwise, tough luck.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Heh, you were exactly right! I dug around in the display settings and found some Intel driver which had set the scaling to "Centre Image". I just had to whack it into "Full Screen", and now everything's splendid. That was easy. Thanks a lot, sirs!

I forgot all about GanGan Extend!

A medal-fest the likes of which is rarely seen. Scores go into the quadrillions. Seems to be well-designed, too.
