I like the Music in the last 2 stages of Gigawing and the final boss tune is awesome! It's been said a million times but the lava stage "come on!" is annoying as fuck!I always thought Giga Wing's soundtrack was terrible, but 2's was great. Stage 3 boss music is intense.
I'm a big fan of the sequels music too, great under-rated game all around.

I like both Giga Wing soundtracks even if they are as different as it gets. GW manages greatly to push you forward while GW2 has the more classical, epic feel. This way it also fits very well for either game if you ask me. I consider the remixed soundtrack for the first game on the Dreamcast to be truely awful though (besides stage 5).chempop wrote:I like the Music in the last 2 stages of Gigawing and the final boss tune is awesome! I think Giga Wing's music is fitting. The game is quite different, so why shouldn't the music be? Its not anywhere near my favorite soundtrack, but it does the job.

You mad, 'tis one of the best shmup soundtracks period: elevates the adrenaline, elevates the game.Estebang wrote:Zed Blade.
Thread over.
Still, it's a guilty pleasure, and notable for being one of Manabu Namiki's first soundtracks.
Interesting thread though, as I've come across tons of shmups with off-kilter ST's and I can't think of any examples. It comes down to taste of course, I think shmups work better when they sound like DFK BL and less like DFK 1.5.
EDIT:
That's one, agreed!undamned wrote:Ray Crisis is way too chill.

I don't give a shit if people don't agree with me, but the iOS version of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu had some oddball level music.

Ugh, indeed it did. I got a friend to download DDP:R and he immediately deleted the game after he booted it up and heard the arrange OST. Makes Galuda's boss music look amazing.beatsgo wrote:I don't give a shit if people don't agree with me, but the iOS version of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu had some oddball level music.

Taste amazing.
I didn't like DDP-R's new music either, actually kinda sad how big of a deal CAVE made over it. I'm also pretty erked by how iOS Galuda2 smartphone mode has some new cheesy tunes.

They made an even bigger deal out of the DFK 1.5 OST, and no one gave two monkeys about that, especially when they heard BL.chempop wrote:Taste amazing.

When SFKhoa uploaded the amazingly cheery stage 1 theme to Youtube, he got a few Japanese comments that said "Thank you so much for the upload." I've never seen that on any other japanese shmup theme upload.

Re: The most unfitting music in a shmup
There was this one doujin shmup called trapezoid of the darkness or something with a midi smooth jazz soundtrack that was particularly unfitting.
The boss music in Patriot Dark is unfittingly awful in such an otherwise excellent game.

Oh my god, that opinion was so wrong, Truxton has the best shmup music ever done anywhere, ever.
Try instead listening to music for Saint Dragon, lvl4. That's like cold jazz from japanese titty bar.

Haha, on repeat plays I got what they were trying to do and started enjoying it. It's massive amounts of destruction with a grin; how can you not love it?RNGmaster wrote:Ugh, indeed it did.
