Android has way too many phones...... I'm glad I switched my Motorola Droid for an Iphone 4 about one year ago...

i was sure there would be some requirements and a lot of older phones with weaker processors wouldn't be supported. i would also assume that non-hd screens wouldn't be.

but restricting it to only a few models is a real joke. my defy is current gen and isn't worse performance wise than a galaxy s.

i'm expecting updates. or at least i hope for them.

there will be hacks definitely though for other phones but seriously.

I've bought the two games on my rooted Samsung Galaxy S with the GMO Market and some tricks 8)

Dodonpachi Resurrection is very playable but EspGaluda 2 is very slow and crash in level 4.

The games are not apks files...
To play the game you must download a ticket on the Android Market and download the games from the GMO Market. To launch them, you can go to the GMO Market app and login. Then click on "Start Game". So... very hard to hack.

And I don't read japanese (I'm learning ;) ) but GMO said there are problems with the Galaxy S in 2.2.1 version. No ? If you have a 2.3.x, there are no problem. I can play DDP DFK, Disgaea and others GMO games.

(Very sorry for my bad english...)

Also downloading that GMO crap put all sorts of junk on my gf's phone, like filling the image archives with pointless game images.

Wow. So you need a data connection to launch the game, even? I don't have a data package with my mobile plan, nor am I always in a free WiFi area. Thanks for the information, anyway.

Hum... maybe not. In fact, you launch the game with a shortcut. When you clic on it, you can launch the game immediatly before the all the rest of the application is displayed. I will try this later.

The game is created with the GMO SDK. I don't think Cave will recreate all the game with a standard library. So, I don't know how Cave will release the games outside of Japan...

So these won't work on a DROID X then?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Weird, it sounds to me like Cave has no intention of these games being successful.

Strider77, if you have 1Ghz and 512Mo, it will work. Anyway, to install these game you must spoof a japanese phone and a japanese operator (Docomo) by modifying a system file (BUILD.PROP).

Just read this
The good news is that bullet hell specialist Cave has released the popular mobile versions of its shoot'em ups, Dodonpachi Ressurrection and Espgaluda II, which have won lots of praise on the iOS platform, to Android devices. Unfortunately, the bad news is that they're only available for Android 2.1 and newer smartphones in Korea and Japan or now, but the publisher intends to release both games in North America and Europe.
taken from here

Does this mean they will be recompiled as apk files or we'll get some form of GMO over here? It could also be incorrect.

Goddamnit.

I have spoofed the Jap Market
I have managed to install the GMO appstore.
I have installed Dodonpachi Lite version.

Fucker won;t run - says unsupported device.

So...

I edited my build.prop.

Changed it to show as an Xperia...then a Galaxy S....supposedly supported...nope.

I swear to gawd , Cave. My won't you take my moneys. I want to give them to you.

BTW - HTC EVO 4G WiMAX

I fail to understand why the EVO would not be supported. Dodonpachi is a goddamn arcade game. No fancy HD sprites needed, just emulate the fucking board already.

Thanks.

Ok I will try to explain you how to do, but sorry I speak english very bad...

To dowload the games, you need to find the market links :
DDP : https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... ticket_779
EG2 : https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... ticket_793

To buy them, you don't need to spoof another phone. There are two things to do :
- Install the last Market Enabler (Android Market) and choose the "Docomo" operator.
- Create a japanese GMAIL account. YOU MUST CHOOSE JAPAN AS COUNTRY.

Add your new japanese gmail account in the list of your android Google Account (no need to synchronize).
Then, delete all the data from the android market ("Market" application in Settings/Applications/Manage applications/All).
Go the the Android market. Use the MENU Button then click on "Account" and choose the new japanese account.

Now you can buy the two games (500 Yens each).

Now, you can't download them with the GMO fucking app. You can spoof another hardware. So make a backup of your original system/BUILD.PROP file and modify the following lines :

ro.product.model=SO-01C (and not B)
ro.product.brand=docomo
ro.build.fingerprint=docomo/X10_1233-7397/SonyEricssonSO-01C/es209ra:1.6/R1EA018/1266719038:user/rel-keys

Don't touch the others lines !

Now reboot your phone.

Activate your Wifi connection and launch a game. It will download all the game data :D

Thanks for the tips...here is my story:

Created Japanese gmail account.
When it asked for text message verification, only selecting United states worked. I worried about this part..

Next I followed the instructions...spoofed Docomo Market
added the new JAP gmail account to my phone (skipped sync)
Cleared Data from Apps/All/Market

Opened market, Menu/Account selected the new jap address

Browsed to this forum on the phone - clicked your link to DDP

IT SHOWED UP AND ALLOWED ME TO PURCHASE!

Post purchase, prior to running the app, I again modified my build.prop file

The moment of truth - I ran the app...

DAMN!

Error. Please try again.

I triple checked my build.prop
I rebooted
I tried again

Error.
Please try again.

SO ...now the fun part.

I wanted to refund since it failed to work.
I aparrently cannot refund...because when I find the app again in the market, it says. "Your device is not compatible"
No option to refund.
This if ind weird. It let me make the purchase with no issues, even before editing my build.prop. Upon editing my build.prop is when it seems to really disagree. :)

In fact, DDP no longer shows in the Jap appstore under Top Paid, as it did 16 minutes ago...

Grrr.

Any ideas?

I'm on an fully rooted HTC EVO 4G - in the USA - running Swagged Out ROM.

Thanks again for help...now I own the app...so sad.

Ok. So...

You MUST use your original BUILD.PROP to view de "refund" option. I said you to do a backup of this file ;)
But you have only 15 min to ask a refund... Sorry.

To download the app, have you well modified the BUILD.PROP like this ?

ro.product.model=SO-01C
ro.product.brand=docomo
ro.build.fingerprint=docomo/X10_1233-7397/SonyEricssonSO-01C/es209ra:1.6/R1EA018/1266719038:user/rel-keys

With this, the download works perfectly for me.

If it doesn't work, try this free japanese VPN. Tutorial :
http://www.vpnsurfing.com/2011/08/free- ... rumon-com/
(If it doesn't work, you can do this : http://software2tech.com/tag/how-to-sol ... n-problem/)
Tested and approved !

A new information : CAVE HAS UPDATED ESPGALUDA 2 AND IT'S NOW FULLY PLAYABLE !!!!!!! On my Galaxy S there is no problem !!!!

I'm just going to wait for the US release. Still going to try it on my Bravo despite compaitibility, because it's able to at least run 3D stuff decently. If not, I'll just upgrade or something.

I'm getting a smartphone in the future but I'm not thrilled with Apple so I'm looking at the LG Esteem. With the specs with this phone it should be more than enough to run Cave shmups on it.

Do the Cave ports run at full speed on any Android tablets? What version of the OS do they require? Or is it like the iPad where the games have a tablet-specific version with higher resolution? I may pick up a tablet soon and it would be nice if I could play these ports on it.

If the tablet is not listed in the supported devices it will not run without hacks.

I got a Kindle Fire and tried Riiske's hack,,,no go. :(

This is what's REALLY frustrating:

Dodonpachi LITE works FINE on my Fire, I download the demo, the app opens and downloads the game files through G-Gee or whatever, and the demo loads. Plays like a dream. Nice! BUT THE FUCKING FULL VERSION WON'T RUN! The market lets me buy and install it, but unlike the DEMO, when I open the app the G-Gee store or whatever tells me my device is incompatible.

I edited the build.prop just on the off chance that it would help, but no.

Funny thing is the app says "Device Incompatible (Kindle Fire)" BUT I modded my fire to identify itself as a Galaxy Tab - this enablers the full android market. Other apps that previously had "compatibility issues" all of a sudden worked like a charm....but DDP:R still is driving me crazy. It's SO CLOSE but I JUST CAN:T PLAY IT. Not close enough for MY comfort :P

Make sure you're editing the build.prop under root, otherwise it won't have any effect.

Easiest way is to install rootftp, modify the file with a computer and then reboot.
