That sounds like the empty lock technique, where you hold C and press A right as you're about to destroy an enemy to get more chips out of the blue, without lowering your stage counter, basically... of course it's not too hard to pull off on the big two planes right after the power-up ship and such, but everything else is something else altogether, and that technique is apparently used a *lot* in WR-level play (see here from Arcadia).third_strike wrote:(2) In Arika's super play in first Power up carrier of first stage the player do a shit (I don't know explain what) to get more cubes and keep doing that the whole run.|
The technique isn't necessary outside of high-level play, where I also expect the number crunching involved in the scoring system might get fairly annoying too since it requires knowing the point values of enemies to figure out the best routes... I'm nowhere near good enough to worry about that, though, so the game is still fun to me! (If not intuitive)
