And has this "redump" already been let out into the wild? ^^

Funny thing is: Hunting roms doesn't reduce the "rom-population", but instead, increases it... Would that be a good thing or a bad thing if the same could be applied to, let's say, real animals? *gg* (why am I even writing this??? No, I'm not drunk... yet. *g*)

I don't think there is a rom in the wild, yet. Just stay calm. 24. or 25. is near ;)

Awesome news. I sold my ps2 esp a long time ago, now will be a perfect chance to replay it. Although its pretty inferior to ESP2 or esp 2 BL, its still quite fun. The music is quite amazing as well.
Espgaluda III needs to happen.

Yaaay! This would be really nice, considering it runs kind of badly in PCSX2 [and I have no J-PS2 ;_;].
I have to do a ghetto-tate [laptop, no monitors in the house] and play with rotated controls there because it's ~20% faster that way on my cruddy machine [no downscaling I suspect].
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

It's probably outdated software or your 'cruddy' computer, mines three years old+ and I got this game running on PCSX2 at fullspeed earlier this year with the latest version. I imagine it would run even better now.

That being said it is a pain to configure compared to MAME, and Im looking forward to trying this game as it was originally intended when MAME's u3 and the ROM gets out.

Haha -- I was being funny is all. Honestly, while this news is all cool, the time I will spend with these is (probably) pretty low. I had all the boards until recently (well, ESPGaluda PS2) and I've not played any in at least a year. Not due to lack of interest, but time. I'm more or less curious to see how good the emulation is rather than play the games.

hehe, I thought so. But still: Was I the only one who's sent you a PM? :-P

Yeah, actually, I probably wouldn't play this game too much atm, but like you I'm just curious how good the emulation is. ATM, I got so much to play with Mushihimesama Futari Black Label, Espgaluda II (box and iPhone) and EspRa.De., it's almost ridiculous... So much to play, so little time.... :-)

Nope. :)

Other thing I'm curious about is the weird resolution. When I set my arcade VGA to "pixel for pixel" or whatever it gives me something that the PGM is clearly not (with Ketsui).

The 1:2 pixel aspect ratio weirded me out too considering I'm used to games like Batrider where 3:4 is that and nothing else. I guess the original PCB spreads out across a 3:4 monitor as some trick by Cave to render less graphics or some junk like that.

Actually, ESPGaluda will most likely have the top chopped off on most 3:4 displays, whereas Ketsui will have a good 20-pixel border at the top.

Well that just sucks balls. I certainly dont have issues like those in MAME and the one person I heard that actually put Ketsui into his arcade monitor said it looked just like the PCB did. I certainly won't buy a PCB that behaves that way.

It's not a problem, you just use the adjustment controls to spread it out nice on an arcade monitor.

Oh, okay. I'm worrying too much then. I dont even have an arcade monitor, but knowing that such a game would not display correctly would be a turn off of buying either the game or the monitor.

Not only is the first better, but arrange mode rox my sox off!

That's the only bad thing about this, all of you who haven't played ESPG1 are cheating yourself the experience of playing the awesome arrange mode on the PS2 version.

I think 2 is definitely better than the first one, but I don't really like BL at all.

But the first one is still good stuff. This is great for bringing in new shmup fans via MAME.

That's so cool, everybody now can play it FOR FREE ! :P
No PS2, no damn overpriced PCB, thanks to the über-leet Mame team !
I hope Cave don't see it (they can't read english anyway, and are too busy with their new releases  ).
