Re: The Platform you use most?
Japanese Xbox 360
Re: The Platform you use most?
PC by far for shooters, then my Wii.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

360, then PC, then PS3. The 360 and PS are all that's hooked up to my tv right now, and I don't use the PS for much besides Netflix.

Yeah, and Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth was the best of the bunch! At the bottom of the barrel, though, you've got crap like Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth.pooch wrote:Nintendo 64. So many great shmups.

PC -> MAC -> PS3 -> Wii -> Dreamcast
Google Translate tells me that Unlimited Mode "is for people who like festivals."

As of late, it's been something like this....
SAT > PS1/2 > NES > PSN > PCE > SNES > DC > PSP > MD > 360
...and MAME during STGT

Re: The Platform you use most?
My saturn easily gets the most playtime.
J360 and PS2 gets used quite a bit.
A few months back, I was using my DUO-R a lot. Lately I've been on a big Mega Drive kick too.

Re: The Platform you use most?
With the exception of PC, I'd have to say Wii and PS2. PS2 for Raiden3, Castle Shikigami 2 ("Get clue? Got to go fast!"... What?), Thunder Force V, and R-Type FINAL. I use my Wii Chaos Field, Ikaruga, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

That game sounds interesting, I'll have to pick it up. Should really round out my Nintendo 64 shmup collection.Mortificator wrote:Yeah, and Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth was the best of the bunch! X360 > Wii > PC
XBox for gaming in general, the Wii also but mainly for emus or virtual console. The PC gets a little MAME and some doujin-games, but is used for work most of the time. Once in a year I get my N64 out to speedrun SM64, but that doesn't count.

Re: The Platform you use most?
I probably use my PS2 and DSLite the most for games in general, but most of my STG play is on my Mac with MAME. In fact, I haven't played a console STG in a while, but that might change when I get a 360.

Re: The Platform you use most?
Interesting question. For the purpose of this board in terms of getting my shmup fix on:
iPhone (I'm at work alot), JP 360, and Dreamcast/Saturn (tied).
In General:
PSP (work + Konami shmup collections = sanity saved), PS3 (my catch all Media Center console), Wii (been playing Sin & Punishment 2), and JP360 (Shmups).

Re: The Platform you use most?
I'm really surprised more people aren't saying Jamma/PCB here. I naively thought it might be the most popular one. Perhaps the fact that I spend so much time in the trading forum and talking with fellow PCB buyers had led me to think PCB ownership was more common than it is.
I forget how lucky the Casino Arcade crew are to have a friendly local arcade with some shmups in. The place might be a dingy dive, but we actually get to play on PCB in a pubic arcade without, without having to own them. Casino and it's community is perhaps the main thing that stops me moving out of London.

Well... you're talking about relatively pricey specialized hardware versus easily and cheaply-had home consoles and/or computers (which everybody's posting on). JAMMA/PCB users are well-represented on this forum, though, no question about it.

Re: The Platform you use most?
Yeah - I realised the reason's are blindingly obvious. In fact I deleted a whole rambling paragraph about inaccessibility and cost vs. MAME and console becuase I couldn't actually anything much new said.captpain wrote: Well... you're talking about relatively pricey specialized hardware versus easily and cheaply-had home consoles and/or computers (which everybody's posting on). But still, the relatively lack of Jamma users surprises me. There's a lot of us here!
Good point too about the posting. Clearly the common denominator of posting on here is access to a computer.

Does it? I have a Dreamcast that resets randomly. And another that won't read discs...gundamalpha wrote:Isn't that requires an easy fix?Van_Artic wrote: what he said

Re: The Platform you use most?
My most commonly used platform is my J360/NA360 followed closely by my Nintendo DS. Lately though I've been spending a lot of my spare time with my jamma pcbs.

There is a temporary fix with matches and a permanent fix with soldering the power supply to the motherboard. I fixed now three DC like this and it works perfectly.
The future is 2D

Thanks guys! And I'd dismissed it as dead anyway, so it won't matter when I end up massively breaking it all with my clumsy paws.
