That would be referring to the young actress of Rae Dawn Chong as shown in the Quest For Fire flick, daughter of Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong film fame.

Looks interesting enough, but I'll wait for a DVD or premium movie channel showing.

In retrospect, that seems to be beside the point--do you need to understand Donkey Kong's motivation for kidnapping a woman and throwing barrels at this jumping little plumber guy? :) Just another [perhaps accidental] nod to games: the story is not the selling point.

True enough but you're not supposed to care about or empathise with jumpman/mario DK or whoever the princess is in Donkeykong, it's simply about playing the game and the enjoyment of jumping over barrels. Where as a film is passive entertainment so story really is a selling point. While I realise characterisation / motivation etc are less important in this type of film than a lot of other films, I think the video game comparison doesn't really work despite the abundance of references to videogame culture in the film.

That said, I would like to reiterate that I loved the film.

In the books it really does give no clear reason as to why he needs to fight her exes. Its just thats how it is. I reads like a story for a computer game.

I think the casting was pretty much perfect apart from Scott which i think he actually acted a bit more than his usual roles but cant really play Scott that well. Scott is a little pathetic but he is not pathetic to the level Michael Cera. some of the music blends where amazing fairy foutain Zelda kinda blending in to this awesome echo thing. Link to the past was got some pretty big nods in this film.
the Three OSTs (the red and blue ones and then the game track) are all great.

I was disappointed a little with the film but then i was kinda let down by the end of the book. Over all though the book is about a 9 out of ten and the movie is about an 8. I wish i could say you cant compare the two but you kind of have too. I started reading this at the start of 2010 so its been a big part of my year. I never used to read a lot but scott pilgrim got me back in to comics again. Which is not a bad thing at all.

Eh, anyone who went to see James Cameron's Avatar for the story got gypped. I saw SP twice and was casually unconcerned with plot both times.

I saw Avatar to see giant blue cat people ride dinosaurs and fight Duke Nukem. I was entertained.
