The real arcade cabinet didn't actually use a lightgun per se. It's more of an oddly shaped analog joystick, the stalk the gun is mounted to is what controls the aiming cursor.
this isnt a light gun game guys....as nZero pointed out....

and when this game came out in 1991(!), it was the greatest thing i had ever seen that took quarters 8)

i almost bought a dedicated cab last winter, but sadly it wouldnt have been possible to get it up to my 3rd floor walkup :?

as always, you are wrong  area 51 was also badass in its day....back when atari still made good games 8)

hate all you want now, when these titles were new, they were certainly not something to put ones nose up to....these were pretty groundbreaking games.....the graphics on both were very impressive for there time, t2 in particular....way ahead of its time....

But would anyone know where I could just get the arcade circuit board and maybe a light gun?
I found the PCB on ebay (working) for like $50 a while back. The potentiometer circuitry for the X-Y axis' on the gun mounts is simple enough, but you still gotta figure out a nice mechanical mount and stick some plastic guns on top (I've got some old PS1 Guncons I plan on using). Still in my long list of projects :? One thing that's cool about mechanical positioning rather than light gun is that you can calibrate it to any size/type of TV.
