DDP comes to mind. The final boss after the Queen Bee is one helluva bastard. I find myself bombing over and over again just to clear the screen of bullets for a short moment so I can unload on him. The longest boss battle in my shmupping career.

It used to be a problem with me until I repeatedly felt the pain of not getting to 'splode all them extra bombs & not being alive to improve my score. If you have 'em, why not use 'em since they help you stay alive longer to keep scoring? But of course you want to hold 'em till you are in a mess you can't get out of.

id rather not suck and use bombs, than suck and not use bombs.
if there is a huge bonus for bombs, like raiden, your bomb usage will show in your score, so what? if you want to break the world record you have to not use them, yea right...like anyone here cept maybe 2-3 persons can aim for that stuff. but in some games using bomb has a neglectable penality, like 2k bonuses and stuff, who gives a shit then? bomb first, ask questions later.

for example, in raiden 2, there's no way id not bomb 2 or 3 times in stage 3, no effin way. its just the right thing to do, unless you have complete mastery over stuff.
